    The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) was founded on December 5, 1935. The NCNW was created by Mary Jane Mcleod Betune. This is important because it brings awareness to the injustices black women face.

    White House Conference on Governmental Cooperation

    The NCNW National Council of Negro Women began to regularly visit the White House to call for more black female administrators in upper-level government positions. Without this, the group wouldn't have been so big. The more news coverage this got meant more people would help.
  • The NCNW desegregates the U.S. Army.

    The NCNW desegregates the U.S. Army.

    the NCNW engaged in a series of projects including the campaign to desegregate the armed forces and helping women globally during World War II. In 1941. This is important because they lobbied for black women in the U.S. Army and by 1942, The Women’s Army Corps admitted African American women into the service overseas in the 688th Central Postal Battalion.

    The NCNW lobbied for women’s rights legislation and the establishment of a national healthcare system. Also permanent Fair Employment Practices Commission (FEPC) to prevent racial discrimination in employment. Without this black Americans would be treated badly for something we cannot control/change.

    Training our women

    the NCNW began to train a number of black women for volunteer community service. She did that because when assisting low-income black women in job preparation, address the difficulties surrounding black youth. Therefore to help black women off the streets when their older and to be empowering, strong, independent women.
