    W.E.B. Du Bois, Mary White Ovington, Ida B. Wells, Henry Moskowitz and William English Walling, founded NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) on President Lincolns birthday. Their inspiration was the the abolitionist movement.

    The Lynch Law
    A Lynch Mob was the most brutal example of white supremacy. The NAACP published a report on this 30 year occurrence in order to put an end to it. They held their annual conference in Atlanta, the most active KKK area in the US, to prove they had no fear.

    In 1931 the NAACP started giving financial, legal and moral support to those who were unfairly prosecuted. Smart and Safe spawned from that to provide safe communities as well as civil and human rights today.

    Executive Order 9981
    Executive order 9981 ended discrimination in the military. African Americans put their lives on the line in a country which they were denied the rights of being a citizen.

    NAACP's legal counsel fought 26 cases in front of the supreme court, one of them being Brown Vs BOE. This was a major stepping stone in the fight for social equality in America

    W.E.B. Dubois pasted away as a citizen in Ghana, Africa on this day at the age of 95.

    This is the day after Dubois' death, when the people of the south took a long march to Washington, D.C.

    The voting rights act of 1965 was one of the NAACP's milestone achievements. It tore down all barriers of voting that had to do with race.
