My Timeline To Becoming A Teacher

  • What I Want To Be When I Grow Up

What I Want To Be When I Grow Up
As far back as I can remember I always said I wanted to be a teacher. When I was younger I used to play pretend teacher. I had my own whiteboard in my bedroom and would pretend to have a class of my own, assign them classwork, grade their assignments, and read to them. When I began high school I began taking lots of business classes and my focus turned toward a business career, I totally forgot about being a teacher even though it was something I loved so much.

    Graduated from UNH
I graduated from UNH from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics with a degree in Business Adminstration with an option in Management and a minor in Hospitality Management. At the time I thought I would be starting a career in the near future, but little did I know that the business world was not for me anymore.
  • Business Lost Its Appeal

    Business Lost Its Appeal
Soon after I graduated from UNH I began to realize that no jobs in the business field that I looked into were appealing to me. I took a long hard look at what i wanted to do with the rest of my life and remembered teaching. This was the time I realized that i wanted to go back to school for teaching and someday soon become a teacher.

    Started my Masters at Rivier
I started my Masters in Elementary Education and Special Education during the Spring of 2012. Since I began my courses and have completed field experience in classrooms I have further realized that teaching is the profession that I want to be in.

Started working at YMCA School's Out
I began working at the YMCA in Nashua in their School's Out After School Program at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year. I interact with children from age 5-12. I enjoy working with the children and enjoy helping them with homework and playing with them. I think that the enthusiasm I have for these children will directly relate to an enthusiasm in the classroom.
