Exact date unknown. The Baron Weasel attacks Sam after lecturing Sam about capturing him, and no, the Baron cannot talk. All Sam heard was "Squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak". -
He created salt
Sam makes salt with a black substance. -
Sam's bed is finished
Sam finally finished his bed. -
Sam met Miss Turner.
Actual date unknown. Sam met Miss Turner at the library. He wants to look at books about the Gribly Farm and, hopefully, a map. -
Frightful catches her first prey.
Exact date unknown. Frightful killed an animal and Sam takes it away because if Frightful learns how to hunt for herself she might go away and leave Sam. -
Summer and Fall
Exact date unknown. During summer and fall Sam thought about winter. -

"Today, the Baron Weasel looked moldy. I couldn't get near enough to see what was the matter with him, but it occurs to me that he might be changing from his summer fur to his winter mantle. If he is, it is an itchy process. He scratches a lot." -
Another Journal entry.
"I dragged the clay up the mountain to my tree in my second best pair of city pants. I tied the bottoms of the legs, stuffed them full, and as I looked down on my strange cargo, I thought of scarecrows and Halloween. I thought of the gang dumping ashcans on Third Avenue and soaping up the windows. Suddenly, I was terribley lonely. The air smelled of leaves and the cool wind from the stream hugged me. The warblers in the trees above me seemed gay and happy about their trip south..." -
Sam gets clay for a fire place.
Sam makes a fire place and it's warm in the hemlock tree but he and Frightful don't have enough air so Sam has to remake it. -

Matt meets Sam.
Matt meets Sam to spend half of his spring vacation because Matt blackmailed Sam by threatening to put everything about Sam running away in the newspaper. -
Matt Spell comes
Matt Spell sees Sam pulling Frightfull back from seeing another duck hawk. Matt has figured out that Sam is "The Wild boy." and Matt wants to interview Sam because Matt is a reporter. -
Sam wasn't living off his storehouse anymore.
