My Reading Growth in 7th Grade

  • Summer Reading Novel - Eragon

    Summer Reading Novel - Eragon
I would rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars. I liked how the boy Eragon and his dragon Saphira were so adventurous throughout the novel. There was action around every corner that kept me on the edge of my seat. Also, reading through the book you find so many secrets about characters and the plot which is always shocking to find out. For example, when you found out that Brom, the old man training him used to be a dragon rider.
  • 1st Workshop Novel - Warriors: The New Prophecy - Midnight

1st Workshop Novel - Warriors: The New Prophecy - Midnight
I would rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars. The main cat character, Brambleclaw goes on an adventure to save the forest. He was one of the four cats asked out carry out this task. Back at Brambleclaw's clan, Thunderclan, the cats at the camp are wondering where he has gone. Also, the training medicine cat at Thunderclan, Leafpaw, is learning the ways of healing and saving cats.
  • The Outsiders

    The Outsiders
I would rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars. The conflict of the story is that the Socs and the greasers get into fights over their social class. The main character, Ponyboy, has to run from his town after Johnny kills a Soc named Bob. The setting is mostly in a town split into the rich and poor sections.
  • 2nd Workshop Novel - Warriors: The New Phrophecy - Moonrise

2nd Workshop Novel - Warriors: The New Phrophecy - Moonrise
I would rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars. The plot of the story really triggers your emotions. For example, when a main character Feathertail dies trying to save the other cats. The conflict of the story is that the journeying cats have to make it back to their home to deliver a message. They run into many obstacles that may make them to late to save the clans...
  • Lit Circle Novel - The Westing Game

Lit Circle Novel - The Westing Game
I would rate this story 2 out of 5 stars. I did not like the novel because of its non-entertaining plot. The story is a mystery where 16 heirs have to find out who murdered the rich Samuel Westing. First off, i did not like that the story changed setting and characters every chapter and things were happening too quickly. Also, it was annoying that no one ended up killing Sam Westing.
  • 3rd Workshop Novel - The Maze Runner

3rd Workshop Novel - The Maze Runner
I would rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars. I loved the plot of The Maze Runner because it was action-packed and interesting. I liked how the Gladers were in a situation where they were forced to escape the maze. This novel was given a 4 out of 5 because a some parts it was slow to get to the more entertaining parts of the book.
  • The Giver

    The Giver
I would rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars. The setting of The Giver was inside a futuristic community where everything is the same. I loved to see Jonas have to cope with the struggles of being the Receiver of Memory. This book opened up your imagination in so many ways. For example, at the end where you can decide what you think happened when Jonas and Gabe went down the hill on a sled.
  • Self-Assessment

    Self-Assessment
I have certainly grown as a reader and a thinker this year. I think I have become a faster and for efficient reader. Books are much more easily understood now that I have developed as a reader. I have developed as a thinker because I believe I have been more focused this year than I was last year or any other year of school. My goal for next year is to get high honor roll for all of the marking periods. I know this will be a difficult task but I will definitely work hard to complete this goal.
