Muhammad was born in Mecca, what is now modern day Saudi Arabia. He was the son of Abdul Muttalib. He grew up as a caravan driver by trade.

Muhammad had his first revelation on Mount Hira at the age of 40. At first he thought he was going mad, hallucinating, or having a demonic apparation. He then realized it to be a revelation from God, Allah, through the angel Gabriel.

After the revelations and visions continued through his life he eventually shared them with his wife and children. They believed what he was saying and became the first Muslims.

After teaching what he was learning from Allah through his revelations, many businessmen and others became very angry with him. He was banished from Mecca on account of him teaching against what the businessmen and other religious people were doing.

Muhammad gathered followers in Medina and rode from Medina to Jerusalem on the back of a great white horse. Along the way he met all of Allah's prophets including Abraham, David, and Moses.

Muhammad eventually made it back to Mecca and defeated the businessmen and religious people there. He cast out all of the idols there and set up Islam as the main religion there. He welcomed all of his followers.

Muhammad took many pilgrimages to spread Islam around the MIddle East. After his farewell pilgrimage, he fell ill and died in Medina.

Muhammad married a woman known as Khadija. Through the span of his life, however, he ended up having thirteen wives and several children. Two of his children never made it past infancy.
