    Trojan War Summary

    Trojan War Summary
    Odysseus played an important role in the Trojan War. It was a 10 year war, but being the skillful and master strategists he was, Odysseus came up with a plan to deceive the Trojans and win the war. He ordered that a giant wooden horse be built and left at the gates of Troy knowing that they would let it in, thinking it was a present. The ambush and horse won Greece the war with Troy.

    Odysseus' role in effect in the Trojan War gave him the sense of knowing that he can accomplish big things and is powerful. He also gained respect and honor from the people of Greece. That's good but that also makes him reckless and that out other people in danger. From that experience Odysseus had nothing to lose but it could and did start to effect his character in behavior negatively.

    When Idysses and his man sailed back ship, they followed Circe advice. When they encounters the Sirens, Odysseus fell weak to their power and plead to be set free.

    This event shows te again. Odysseus is reckless and cocky. In this situation he gains gauging advice. He loses more honor and respect because he keeps being proven wrong.

    Scylla and Charybdis Smlmary

    Scylla and Charybdis were other creature led that they were going to have to encounter and couldn’t escape. Scylla was the 6 headed minster that took 6 people from a ship that passed by. Charybdis was like an underwater whirlpool that sucked anything that passed down. Odysseus had to make a choice between which dangerous obstacle he was going to go through. Idyseeus chise to Jean towards Scylla and ended up losing his 6 best men.

    Helios' Cattle Summary

    Circe then told Odysseus about that last thing that he was going to encounter and that was Helios and his cattle. When it came upon the time where they passed Helios' island, Odysseus men didn't listen to his warning and ate some of the cattle. They angered Helios and as a payment Zeus crashed Odysseus' ship. Odysseus was the only survivor.

    This event shows us that Odysseus cares for the safety his men and is also a cautious person. Before he was risky and cocky, but now he seems to have learned his lesson about challenging higher people. This event shows us that his crewman are weak, desperate, and foolish, despite going through what the went through before. Because of this event Odysseus lost all of his crewmen.

    Suitors and Coming Home Summary

    After 20 years Odyseus finally made it back to Itacha alone. We he returned their were suitors everywhere and things were different but he couldn't reveal his identity. Odysseus came up with a plan to get rid of the suitors and reclaim his title that envolved his son and 2 loyal servants. He proved himself as Odysseus after he and his son killed the suitors and convinced Penelope.

    This event shows that Odysseus has guile and has learned from past experiences to not always think on your feet. It also tells us that his wife was the same way. Another thing that we learned was that Odysseus was loved by many people but also disrespected. In this event Odysseus gained respect, his wife and his land back.

    Sirens Summary

    Odysseus and his men where in Circe’s island and Cirece was telling Odysseus about that creatures that they were going to encounter. Curve started by telling him about the Sirens, that we’re going to distract you and out you under a trance or spell. Odysseus kept insisting that he could fight their power though. Circe that his men but wax in their ears and tie Odysseu up without that wax so that he can try he power of the Sirens.

    Lotus Eaters Summary
    Summary: Odysseus and his men where on the Lotus Eaters Island. On the island were lotus flowers that had the power to put you under a trance and cause you to loose focus. His men began to eat them and lose focus, motivation, and hope on trying to get back home. When Odysseus realized what was happening had to gather them and get them back on the ship and on the way back to Itacha.

    This shows a lot about Odysseus' motivation to get back to Itacha. It also shows that his men needed Odysseus to survive. From this experience Odysseus lose precious time that could have been used b on trying to get back home. He gained some knowledge about creatures that he exposed to and didn't like.

    Cyclops Summary
    After Odysseus and his men encountered the Lotus flowers they encountered the Cyclops named Polyphemus. His men wanted to just take a few sheep and leave, but Odysseus wanted to see the cyclops. Odysseus and a few of his men went into the Cyclops cave and got it drunk so that it could fall asleep. After that they stabbed the cyclops in the eye, and Odysseus trick it by saying his name was Nohbdy.

    Eventually they cyclops let them out unknowingly when he went outside to tend to it's animals. As they were leaving Odysseus got cocky and told it his name.

    While Odysseus and his men were on the boat the received two bags from Aeolus. When they opened the first bag if blew them all the way back home to Itacha. They thought the second bag had gold in so they opened. As a result they were blown back to the island.

    This event shows us that Odysseus and his men are tempted by the little things. She the where blown to Itacha the focused on a prize instead of what important. Odysseues lost his chance to be with his land quicker. He gained loss time.

    Circe's Island Summary

    Odysseus and his men where on Circe's Island. Circe was a witch and her Island was filled with wild beast that were tamed. Polites and his group of men were beguiled by Circe and fell for her tricks, while E. and his men didn't and went back to the ship. As a result the group that went with Polites turned into pigs. When Odysseus found his me like that he was sad and when Circe realized that she changed them back into their human form. Circe was in a dire need of attention and love Odysseus.

    From this event Odysseus gains respect and praise from his that were turned into pigs. He lost time that could have been spent going back to the island because his men were fooled by Cicre. The encounter on Circe's island shows us that men need and will depend on Odysseus because of their occasionally lack of focus to get back home. This event shows us that Odysseus is faithful and shares love for his men.

    This event shows some important characteristics about Odysseus. For example he's smart curious, anxious reckless, selfish, and full of himself. He risked himself and his men because he wanted to see a Cyclops. Also he decided to tell the Cyclops his name which lead to danger for him and his men. In this situation he lose the possible safety of his men when the curse was cast. We also learn that Odysseus men trusted him a lot even though he puts their lives in danger.

    Thai event shows us that Odysseus can actually make the right descions. It also shows us that he can sometimes not be selfish, especially when he decided not to risk all his men just some. In this situation he loses 6 if his best men which can later impact his future journeys. He also lose hope.
