    The United Nations General Assembly votes overwhelmingly to establish the United Nations Human Rights Council. This means that now and in the future I can know that my rights will be protected in not just the United States but other countries also.

    Stock markets around the world plunge amid growing fears of a U.S. recession, fueled by the 2007 subprime mortgage crisis. Which affected jobs and families including my own.
  • UNESCO launches The World Digital Library.

    The WDL has stated that its mission is to promote international and intercultural understanding, expand the volume and variety of cultural content on the Internet, provide resources for educators, scholars, and general audiences, and to build capacity in partner institutions to narrow the digital divide within and among countries. Which can help with my education in the future.
  • Major Oil Spill

    The Deepwater Horizon oil drilling platform explodes in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 workers. The resulting Horizon oil spill, one of the largest in history, spreads for several months, damaging the waters and the United States coastline, and prompting international debate and doubt about the practice and procedures of offshore drilling. Which affected my learning in school and my point of view on the environment and how important taking care of it is.
  • Breaking the Sound Barrier

    Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner becomes the first person to break the sound barrier without any machine assistance during a record space dive out of the Red Bull Stratos helium-filled balloon from 24 miles (39 kilometers) over Roswell, New Mexico in the United States. I grew up in here and was in the state when it happened. It was a big thing in school also, mostly science class.
  • Chile Earthquake

    The 2015 Illapel earthquake occurred 46 km (29 mi) offshore from Illapel, Chile on September 16 at 19:54:33 Chile Standard Time (22:54:33 UTC), with a moment magnitude of 8.3. The initial quake lasted three minutes, and was followed by several aftershocks greater than magnitude six. This affected family friends and was a devastating time for us.
  • U.S. Launches Missiles at Syria

    In response to a suspected chemical weapons attack on a rebel-held town, the U.S. military launches 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at an air base in Syria. Russia describes the strikes as an "aggression", adding they significantly damage U.S.–Russia ties. This affects out country and everyone in it. It make us realize that a war or crisis could break out anytime and we have to be ready when something like this happens.
