    The concept of Nuclear families arose during the 1700s. This meant that they shifted away from the idea of extended families where three generations would share a household together and be self sufficient. This rose with the cottage industry rising, for it caused more independence between people and families. This is a societal change for they no longer relied on their whole house hold to farm and support each other but shifted to doing work for money on their own.

    With the rise of premarital sex and the lack of contraceptives at the time illegitimate births were on the rise. The rise of the cottage industry also supported this because you there was a growth in independence among the people. They would no longer have to wait to own the land, but rather could set out and make a living themselves, so they did not have to wait to have to get married.

    This is a change because before it was not popular to have premarital sex, and the people were generally tied to the land up until the cottage industry came around

    The Atlantic Slave Trade
    The Atlantic Slave trade helped the economy grow in Europe at the expense of a whole group of people. By sending slaves to work in the colonies, it would guarantee free labor and that way merchants would not have any expenses. European nations would also wage war in attempts to monopolize the slave trade. This is another example of continuity in competition for control of the economy between European nations.

    The Cottage Industry became extremely important as less land became available with industrialization and a growing population. This made rural workers unable to be as reliant on farming and they needed another means of making money. They began making goods for merchants and giving them back in exchange for pay. This is a change from their reliance on farming to a new form of making money.

    Peace of Utrecht 1713
    The threat of a unified Spain and France towards Great Britain caused a 12 year long war between a coalition of states and Spain and France. Had Louis XIV not been defeated the two unified nations would have dominated and controlled the colonies and overall economy. By losing France had to give up some territory and Spain had to give up parts of Africa and allow Great Britain to use its ports.

    This is an example of continuity for each country was fighting to be on top, and if one grew too powerful the others would try to stop them.

    The Seven Years War 1756
    The seven years war became a battle between France and Britain for control over colonies. This war was fought for 17 years and was an example of competition for power in the colonies. It ended with the peace of utrecht. It is a continuation of Britain's desire for an empire and to be the strongest power in the world. if the picture is wrong it wouldn't let me change it.

    This treaty was signed after France was defeated by the British in the Seven Years War. This is important for nationalism in Great Britain for they were successful against the French. This is also important economically because Great Britain managed to monopolize a lot of colonial North America aiding their economy. This is an example of continuity in the competition for wealth between European Nations.

    The Wealth of Nations 1776
    Scottish professor Adam Smith wrote The Wealth of Nations which change how economics worked. He argued for free enterprise and said that the government controlling the economy solely on the basis of mercantilism was not effective. Instead he argued for free competition that would allow a system of natural liberty. This can be seen as a change for he wants to get rid of the government controlling the economy or a continuation of enlightenment thought, for he argued for natural liberty.

    This act was passed in 1786 and acted as a way to monopolize trade with British colonies. It forced any imports to have to be carried on British ships by British crews. This is somewhat of a continuity because Cromwell had the first version of these laws passed in 1651.

    Abolitionist movement 1788-92
    In England slaves that ran free were often let to be free by the court. More slaves began becoming free and forming unions with whites. Eventually a political movement against slavery occurred which in led to change in 1807. This is a major change for the people of England were expressing their opinions on the wrongs of slavery, contradicting the norm of owning slaves.
