Abel Tasman decided to sail his ships south along the coast of cape Leeuwen. he did this and reached the island of St peters and St Francis on the south of Australia's coast, he then travelled further and sighted Tasmania on the 24, November 1642. Tasman named the island after the governor of the Dutch east indies: Antonio Van Diemen or van Diemen's land.

October 1878. Ned, Dan and Steve headed for bullock creek, where they hoped to ear enough money to pay out Ellen's sentence by running a whisky distillery. a bit after they arrived the group received a warning that police were going to track them down. ned rode around the area and found sets of tracks heading to stringybark creek, close to where the gang was camped. eventually the group ambushed the police camp.

Boxer Rebellion was an officially supported peasant uprising of the 1900 that attempted to drive all foreigners from China. “Boxers” was a name that foreigners gave to a Chinese secret society known as the Yihequan (“Righteous and Harmonious Fists”). they fomented rebellions against the Qing dynasty in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Their original aim was the destruction of the dynasty and also of the Westerners who had a privileged position in China.

the battle of Beersheba was fought on the 31 of October 1917, the town of Beersheba was charged by men of the 4th Australian light horse brigade. commencing at dusk, the brigade stormed into the town using their bayonets as swords in a highly unconventional charge. the speed of the surprise attack took them past the Turkish defences. the brigade were able to secure the town before the Turkish could when retreating.
