His men began to eat them and lose focus , motivation, and hope on trying to get back home. When Odysseus realized what was happening he had to gather them and get back on the ship to go back to Ithaca

    After Odysseus and his men encountered the lotus flowers they encountered the cyclops named Polyphemus, his men wanted to just take a few sheep and leave , but Odysseus wanted to see the cyclops, Odysseus and a few of his men went into the cyclops cave and got it drunk so it could fall asleep. After that they stabbed the cyclops in the eye making him blind , and Odysseus tricked it by saying his name was nohbdy.

    This event shows important characteristics about Odysseus for a short example he’s smart and very curious and anxious and reckless , selfish , and full of himself. But he risked his men because he wanted to see a cyclops. also he decided himself to tell Polyphemus his name which can lead to danger his men. In this situation he lose the possible safety of his men when the curse was casted. We also learn that Odysseus men trusted him a lot even though he puts their lives in danger

    Helios had cattle that no one was allowed to touch , let alone eat or kill the cattle. One day Odysseus feel asleep , and eurylochus persuaded the men to eat the cattle of the sun. Odysseus woke up to find his men had broken their oath and killed the cattle . Helios asked Zeus and the other gods to punish Odysseus crew to for killing the cattle.

    Scylla and Charybdis were the next obstacle that Odysseus and his crew faced. Odysseus was warned that he would have to go past Scylla and lose 6 men or Charybdis, who would create a whirlpool and destroy all of the ships. Odysseus chose to give up the 6 men, but he didn’t tell his crew . This particular story depicts the relationship Odysseus had with his men, and the reasons he had to do this.

This shows that Odysseus men didn’t trust him , by they were also selfish and greedy. The men disbelief caused them trouble.

    Odysseus and his crew travels aeaea, home of the beautiful witch goddess Circe. Circe drug some of Odysseus men and turned them into pigs, one of Odysseus men ran back to the ship and begs him to leave but Odysseus object and went back to go and get his men who turned into pigs. Hermes approaches him and give Odysseus a herb called moly to protect him from Circe. Odysseus later become Circe lover and lives with her for a year , Odysseus later continues his journey to Ithaca with his men
