    The jeep CJ or Civilian Jeep was brought to the public as a utility vehicle that could take anything thrown at it. It was really more like a more luxurious jeep with better shocks, springs, seats. Along with better highway mileage, clutch, cooling and a side mounted tire. There was also the addition of a windshield wiper on the driver's side.

During its rein they were modified to be Zamboni machines that took 10 minutes, compared to the previous 90 minutes it took to polish ice by hand. A new transfer case also allowed for quieter and longer operation of the vehicle.

    It was stronger and more comfortable than jeeps before it. Built for on and off road with a wide wheelbase of 81 inches. It produced 155hp and 225 pound-feet or torque. Jeep offered many models including a camper, luxury,'golden eagle', and Renegade. The CJ-5 was also used in fire departments across the US as a fire fighting vehicle equipped with hoses mounted on the front and back.
