Jeep was invented
The first jeep, crafted by the military for any use. It could do anything a soldier could ask of it. -
CJ
The jeep CJ or Civilian Jeep was brought to the public as a utility vehicle that could take anything thrown at it. It was really more like a more luxurious jeep with better shocks, springs, seats. Along with better highway mileage, clutch, cooling and a side mounted tire. There was also the addition of a windshield wiper on the driver's side. -
The Steel Station Wagon
Jeep releases the first all steel station wagon, the tailgate that folded down was credited with the invention of the term Tailgate Party as the fold down tailgate was ahead of its time -
Jeep Truck
Jeep made a track designed for farmers, these trucks were available with 2 and 4 wheel drive, something Ford and Chevrolet couldn't get until 1957 and 1959 respectively -
Jeepster (VJ)
The VJ was a sports car, marketed at college grads and women drivers. But the Jeepster became a weekend or secondary car to many due to the price and lack of performance. -
CJ-3A
Known as the father of recreational vehicles, the new CJ was just a more refined jeep that could be easily distinguished from its counterpart with it's iconic one piece windshield. -
M30
First post WWII military jeep which was more rugged and had better water proofing. It was used primarily by the Marine Corps and in America's time in the Korean War -
M-38A1
Known as the last 'True' military vehicle, the M-38A1 or MD was an upgrade from the M30 with softer shocks, a more powerfujl engine and a longer wheelbase, along with other luxuries not included on past jeeps. -
M-170
Also known a the MD-A, this light troop carrier and ambulance was an elongated jeep used in the Army during the Korean War. It was fitted with a spare tire, heavier suspension, and a jerrycan on the passenger side. -
CJ-3B
This civilian jeep was a more powerful luxurious jeep, with 9% more torque, and 25% more hp. During its rein they were modified to be Zamboni machines that took 10 minutes, compared to the previous 90 minutes it took to polish ice by hand. A new transfer case also allowed for quieter and longer operation of the vehicle. -
CJ-6
The CJ-6 was just a longer CJ-5 with a longer wheel base. Along with more storage capacity and more comfort options -
CJ-5
It was stronger and more comfortable than jeeps before it. Built for on and off road with a wide wheelbase of 81 inches. It produced 155hp and 225 pound-feet or torque. Jeep offered many models including a camper, luxury,'golden eagle', and Renegade. The CJ-5 was also used in fire departments across the US as a fire fighting vehicle equipped with hoses mounted on the front and back. -
FC-150
The FC-150 was a forward cab truck was a truck designed for farmers as it could go anywhere with an 18 ft turning radius. -
Fleetvan FJ-3/FJ-3A
The van by jeep was designed to be used by the postal service and ice cream trucks. They were rugged and enumerable -
Wagoneer
This 4x4 SUV was designed to be a convenient, comfortable, passenger vehicle. It was the first car to offer an automatic transition on a 4x4. Production lasted 28 years with very little in the way of modification -
Gladiator
The gladiator was a full size pick up truck with tough independent suspension and a very wide wheel base. -
Super Wagoneer
The super wagoneer was designed with the prestigious buyer in mind. It was very robust and versatile, while still having sedan comfort. Including " The given documents show that Galileo’s ideas were dangerous because they went against the church’s belief at the time and against many astronomers’ beliefs at the time."(Jeep website) -
M-715
A Vietnam era pickup truck, designed to replace the Dodge M37. The M-715 was the first tactical vehicle being made primarily of civilian parts, mostly gladiator parts. Many other organisations grew to like the M-715, like fire, forestry, and game departments. -
Jeepster Commando
Jeep noticed people were beginning to have more leisure time and they built the commando accordingly. It was designed for the ordinary person for any recreational reason. -
Dispatcher Jeep (DJ)
The DJ was a modified CJ that had 2 sliding doors and a swinging truck that was used in the mail and other similar services. -
J-10 Pickup
Better known as the Hancho, this jeep brand pickup was a remade gladiator with disc breaks, better front axles. -
Cherokee
The Cherokee was a more sport two door Wagoneer that appealed to more adventurous drivers. It was the first vehicle to win the Four Wheeler or the Year award. A 4 door version was later made in 1977. -
CJ-7
The next generation of the CJ series was the first available with an automatic transition. The well known father of four wheeling, Mark Smith, took took a group of explorers took their jeep CJ-7 on a 21,000 mile journey Tierra del Fuego, Chile to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska -
CJ-8 Scrambler
This distinctively different CJ was more pick up than it's predecessors, but was still very close to the CJ-7. But with a longer wheelbase and cab. -
Cherokee XJ
Made for the modern farmer and mudder, the Cherokee XJ is a compact SUV for any use on and off road. -
Comanche
Another jeep pickup based on the cherokee XJ. -
Wrangler
The Wrangler was the replacement to the ancient CJ series. The Wrangler actually shared very few parts with CJs and was more closely related to Jeep's SUVs at the time. -
Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee replaced the Wagoneer series and changed the mid sized SUV industry. It quickly won many awards in the automotive business. -
Liberty
The liberty was supposed to replace older Cherokees, and had many new modern features like top mounted head lights and a 7 hole front grille, along with a diesel or gas version. -
Commander
The first 7 passenger trail rated jeep loosely based on the old Cherokees. The way the cab was made allowed for an extra row of seats, something many jeeps don't have. -
Compass
The compass was a compact cross over SUV, that is trail rated. The vehicle is front wheel or 4x4 wheel drive for on and off road use -
Patriot

Renegade
The renegade is an incredibly compact SUV, very noticeable with the 'x' rear lights. It was based off of some Italian car designs but combined with Jeep's designs they ended up with the renegade.
