    Cortes befriends the Aztecs and then eventually defeats them

    Cortes claims the area of Mexico for Spain

  • Mexican Patriots declare independence against Spain

  • War for Independence ended in 1821 -Mexico won

  • Created the first Mexican Empire with Agustin as emperor

  • Mexico expanse to the north and tells people to come live there

  • Americans came to settle in the northern Mexico regions had agreed to become a Mexican citizen

  • They had differnt languages and slavery wasn't allowed

  • Texas decides to break away from Mexico-War for Texas Independence begins

  • The Battle of the Alamo

  • The War for Texas's Independence ends

  • Texas dediced to join the United States breaking friendly ties with mexico
