    Composer who created a "distinctly English" sound. Used 3rds and 6ths in harmonies, now known as Triadic music. His music was not published in full until 1953.

    "Rebirth" of arts and science. Cultural revolution, as society moved away from highly religious to more secular in nature.

    Johannes Tinctoris

    Composer and music theorist, helped define what we consider contemporary music as we know it today. Wrote an extremely important dictionary of musical terms.

    Leonardo da Vinci

    Renowned artist of the era, created some of the most recognizable artwork within the era.

    Palestrina

    Most famous composer of the era
  • Period: 1564 to

    Shakespeare

    Technically baroque, but still considered to be one of the most influential writers of the era. Most of the music used / composed for his plays were Renaissance.
