All the jews were called to Dienst Stadium, Once there they were organized into 2 groups. one that got to go, and the others who got sent to camps. Vladek, Anja, and Richieu made it through; but Vladek's sister, her children, and his father did not.

Sometime in spring all the remaining jews in Sosnowiec, were forced to go to the Srodula ghetto to live.

Although exact date unknown, around this time Tosha uses the poison she carries around her neck to poison herself and all the children with including Richieu her instead of allowing them to be captured by the nazis.

Vladek arrives at Auschuwitz. He is there for a total of around 10 months. While there he teaches his kapo english, then works as a tin man, then a shoe repairer, then works black work, and finnaly ends up back as a tin man.

After saving up an huge amount in bribes, Vladek was finally able to afford to have Anja moved from Birkenau to Auschwitz 1 so that she would be closer to him. Exact date unknown

Some time in mid January, Nazis evacuated Auschwitz was evacuated of most of the prisoners through a series of death marches. Vladek was part of a death march that headed to Gross-Rosen

Sometime in the summer of 1945 after finding out Anja is still alive, Vladek heads to Sosnowiec and after a few weeks of travel is runited with Anja.

Anja commits suicide leaving both Vladek and Art emotionaly damaged about the event.
