The prisoners were forced to go on a death march. For 10 days the prisoners were forced to run, and at the end were crammed into cattlecars and sent to Buchenwald.

This is the time when the ghettos started to form, and everyone was forced into curfews and into other peoples homes. Survival started there, if you weren't in your house when curfew starts, you were shot on the spot. Food was scarce.

This this the day Elie was sent onto cattle cars and deported to Auschwitz. Up to eighty people were packed in each car creating a very tight cramped place for the people to be.

They arrive and the camp called Birkenau. They are unloaded and sent into lines. The woman to the crematorium the men towards the camp.

Their family was rushed into the ghettos and then they were assigned their place to stay.

Vladek is moved to Birkenau where he is reunited with Anja.

Elie had some pain in his foot and decided to go into to doctors and get it looked at. When the doctor came back he told him he needed surgery.

On this cold night, Elie Wiesel's father dies of exhaustion, starvation, and thirst. Elie Feels relief in his fathers death, not because of dislike or hate towards him, but because his father was a weight weighing him down.
