  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Great Britain commanding officers: Lutenient-General Hugh Percy,
    Major John Pitcairn, Major-General Francis Smith. US commanding officers: Colonel James Barrett, Colonel John Buttrick, Dr. Joseph Warren, John Parker, William Heath This battle was important because it was the first battle where the US and GB's militia actually fought. The US colonies greatly out numbered the British forces leading the colonists to their first win in their battle against Great Britain.
  • Bunker (Breed's Hill)

    Bunker (Breed's Hill)
    US leaders: William Prescott, Israel Putnam, Joseph Warren, and John Stark. British leaders: William Howe, Thomas Gage, Sir Robert Pigot, James Abercrombie, and Henry Clinton.
    Famous for the quote " Don't for until you see the whites of their eyes". Even thought the colonist had the high ground and were slightly outnumbered they lost because of a lack of ammunition. Even thought the colonists lost the battle it was a victory the US only had 450 casualties and the British had 1,054 casualties.

    Trenton/Princeton (The New Jersey Campaign)
    US leaders were George Washington and Nathanael Greene. Hessian leaders were Johann Rall.
    Most famously know because George Washington​ attacked on Christmas. He crossed the Delaware river and surprised attacked an outpost of Hessian soldiers on the morning of December 26.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    US Commander Arthur St. Clair. Great Britain commanders John Burgoyne and William Phillips
    British occupied the Fort with about eight thousand men. The continental army attacked with three thousand there were few casualties and when the Americans retreated the British pursued. The Americans surrendered​ uncontested.

    US leaders: Horatio Gates, Benedict Arnold, Benjamin Lincoln, Enoch Poor, Ebenezer Learned, Daniel Morgan, Brisish leaders: John Burgoyne (Surrendered), Simon Fraser, F.A. Riedesel
    This ultimately marked the end of the revolutionary war because the Americans overcame the British.
  • Seige of Charleston

    Seige of Charleston
    GB leaders: Sir Henry Clinton, Mariot Arbuthnot, Charles Cornwallis. US leaders were Benjamin Lincoln and Abraham Whipple.
    The British were moving South and were planning an attack on Charlson SC. The British surrounded the cities around Charleston and evacuated them. GB cut of relief​ supplies to Charleston and after a few Battles Convinced Benjamin Lincoln to surrender.

    Patriot militia defeat Loyalist militia in Cherokee County SC. This was a major battle win for the colonists because it stopped Cornwall's​ plan to invade North Carolina and he retreated into South Carolina.
  • Yorktown

    US and French leaders: George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, Comte de Rochambeau, Comte de Grasse. British leaders: Charles Cornwallis (Surrendered), Charles O'Hara, Thomas Symonds. All became POW's
    5,500 french soldiers showed up to aid General Washington to try and take New York. This is where General Cornwallis of GB surrendered to George Washington finally ending the Revolutionary war.
