At 6:30 a.m. Matthew,Peary,Barlett,and the eskimos started their expedition to the North Pole.

Peary and Henson caught up with Barlett at the Big Lead.

Barlett,Matthew,Peary was still waiting by the Big Lead and Matthew saw the sun reappear.

It was clear and calm and the Big Lead was frozen over and the team crossed it.

It was Ross Marvin's turn to go back instead of going.

Henson and Peary caught up with Barlett beside a wide lead and then Henson and Peary built their igloos and Barlett and the dogs were loose on a floating island.Then the ice floe drifted into the lead and the dogs jumped to land and Barlett jumped too.

It was Barlett's turn to go back, Matthew also repaired sledges.

At midnight Henson,Peary,and the ekimos started out on foot, and then rode on sledges

Matthew went on thin ice and broke through then into the water. Then Ootah saved him.

Matthew had calculated that they had marched 100 miles since Barlett turned back.

Matthew,Peary,and the eskimos made it to the North Pole and planted the stars and stripes.

Matthew and Peary went back to Cape Columbia and were happy to smell hot coffee.
