  • Period: to

    Years of Chrisis

  • 1st League of Nations meeting

  • Chinese Communist Party Formed

  • Lie Dector

A medical student named John Larson from the University of California invented the modern polygraph instrument. The machine hooks up to a test subject and reads their vitals as they are asked questions. If the vitals spike when the subject answers, they are lying. I think this is significant because it helps law enforcement catch bad and cruel people and it can prove innocence to people who are being acused.
  • Discovery of Insulin

29 million Americans have diabetes today. Without insulin, all these people would die due to their disease. Physician Frederick Banting and medical student Charles H. Best discovered the hormone insulin in pancreatic extracts of dogs. Insulin is used by diabetics to control their blood sugar. I think this is significant because I have family members who have diabetes and without insulin they would be dead and my whole life would be different.
  • Beer Hall Putsch

  • Death of Lenin

  • Stalin Comes to Power in Russia

Joseph Stalin takes control in Russia. He modernizes Russia and helpes set the course for them to become the world power they are today. I think this is important because if Stalin didn't come to power, Russia would not exist and if they did, they would be greatly behind in industrialization.
  • The Depression

The American stock market crashes. Americans starve and loose their homes, businesses close. America was no longer able to trade so other countries were effected with a loss of imported goods. This is important to me because it showed America a bad thing that could happen at any time. This helped America's future leaders work to prevent this awful event from ever hapening again.
  • Adolf Hitler

Hitler becomes the ruler of Germany. He startes the haulocaust witch is a mass killing of all jewish people. This event is also a cause to the start of WW2. I think this is significant because millions of people died and then even more died when the second world war started.
  • Spanish Civil War

A civil war breaks out in Spain. Nationalists overthrew the republican government, Spain citizens wroked on making laws and declaring rights of their people. I think this is important because all wars are important. Many people die, and war isn't for nothing. War mostly always results in some sort of order to the people and government.
