Maria Theresa is Born
Maria Theresa was born in the Hopsburg Palace in Vienna, Austria on May, 13 ,1717. She was the second child of Emperor Charles VI and Elizabeth Christine. She was raised as a princess , even though she had an older brother who would most likely take the throne. Later on in her life after her brother died it was deemed that she would become Queen. The First African Slaves Arrive In Louisiana
In 1716 the first African slaves arrived in Louisiana. Over the next 10 years 6,000 more slaves would be imported to Louisina alone. This event is important to history because slavery was a main cause of the American Civil War.(knowla.org) -

George washington was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia, on February, 22 ,1732. his parents were Augustine Washington , and Mary Ball. Married Francis Stephen
In 1736 Maria Theresa married Francis Stephen of Lorraine. There marraige proved succesful , They had 16 children together. This event is important to History because one of there daughters ,Marie Antionette , would grow up and become a queen. (britannica.com) -
Maria Theresa Has First Child

In 1741 Maria Theresa appointed her husband Co-ruler of Austria and Bohemia. He ruled by Maria's side with cofidence till his death in 1765. This event is in an important part in history because without him as a ruler Austria and Bohemia could be quite diffrent. (biography.com) -
Maria Theresa is Crowned Queen of Bohemia
On May 12 1743 Maria Theresa was crowned Queen of Bohemia . This meant that she was now controlling alot more territory. This event is important to history becasue without her great rule the history of Bohemia would probaly be quite diffrent.(newadvent.org) -
Reformed The Government and The Military
In 1748 Maria made reforms to her army. This was neccacary because of the effects of the Seven Years War. This was important because without the reforms she made the army could have lost many more battles and even have lost territory.(hapsburger.net) -
Appointed Her Son Co-Regent
In December of 1765 Maria Theresa appointed her oldest son Joseph II as co-regent and emperor. Her decision to appoint him was a mistake because Joseph II faced alot of opposition on his refroms. Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion preformd by Samuel Adams and the sons of Liberty. During this event the men dressed up as Native Americans , raided a ship , and then dumped 342 cases of tea into the Boston harbor. This caused Brittian to be quite angry with the Colonists , and was a cause of the revolutionary War ( “Boston Tea Party.”). -
Implemented Mandatory Elementry Education
In 1775 Maria Theresa , along with many other reforms , made Elemantery education mandatory. This meant that all children , both boys and girls, ages 6 to 12 had to attend school. This event is still important today because education is still mandatory in most parts of the world. (Breivik) -

On July 4 1776 the American colonists officially declared independence from Brittian. This meant the start of a bloody war but the end of Brittians tyranical rule. This event is important to history because today the U.S.A is one of the strongest countries on the planet. (history.com) -
Captain James Hook Discovers Hawaii
Captain James Cook was the first Eurpoean to discover the Hawaiin Islands. At first the Hawaiins thought Cook and his crew were Gods. After one of the crew members died the hawaiins realized that they were wrong. This made them angry and they began to fight Cook and his men , this resulted in the death of a few of Cook's men and 35 Hawaiins. This is significant to Hawaiin history because it was the start of foreign people invading this island.( “Cook Discovers Hawaii.” ). -
Maria Theresa Dies
On November 29 1780 Maria Theresa died in her birthtown of Vienna ,Austria. She reigned for 40 years and is even considered "The Savior of the Habsburg Dynasty". Her life was important to history becasue without her females might have never been able to take throne. (departments.kings.edu)
