  • Series of major changes brought an end to the Middle Ages

    New ideas about the nature of humankind and how society should be organised, began to change old beliefs There were re-emergence of town, life, more middle class people not as many rich people and not as many poor people, like serfs, for example. Crusades are finished. You have an age of exploration and discovery. The feudal system disappears. This period was beginning to come to an end of the middle ages, and beginning into more modern times
  • Industrial Revolution

    Very big changes occured in this period. Social structure changes, economic changes, inventions, technology, factories, large scale production (not making 1 shirt in a house, making 50,100 shirts), specialisation (this means you have 1 person doing one job), another major change which occured was the shift from agriculture to cities, so people moved from farms and rural areas into cities and factories. This doesn't just happen in a day, it happens over time. It also didn't just happen in Europe.
  • England's Industrial Revolution

    Prior to the Industrial Revolution, a working person would be lucky to have 1 or 2 shirts To make fabric, there were people spinners, which all of their life, they use these spinners and be turning cotton wool or other fabrics into threads which then could be woven on looms, to make something like a shirt.
  • The Spinning Machine is invented

    Richard Arkwright has invented the Spinning Machine during this period and because of this, Modern Factories have evolved. Before the Spinning Machine, England relied on India for cotton wool now they could ship the raw cotton in and make the the thread themselves there and they were known as the centre for that. They had access to goods in inexpensive ways that didn't exist before. There were many jobs in factories in cities now.

    By taking money from poor tax payers and borrowing even more money from other countries, which means by 1789 France had a lot of money. The bad thing is that the poor people were starving and did not have much money During this, King Louis the 16th are living it up big styling while people are starving and pennyless. The people of France did not like this so they planned on removing the King and that they will run the country themselves. This was the beginning of the French Revolution.
  • King Louis is Kicked Out.

    While King Louis is fearing for his life, he dresses up as a Russian Butler. The King was captured and brought back to Paris and was told that he was not in charge anymore.
  • American Revolution ends

    The British government ruled the colony and the colonists, the people living in the Americas were taxed but they had no say in the British government system. They had no power to have their say, so they revolted militarily and what was revolutionary is that it changed the whole routine, it created a whole new nation and it was based on this idea of democracy.

    There was a huge impact on Aboriginals and drastically changed their lives.
    This is an example of colonisation and is a significant event in European history, English history and Australian history

  • French Revolution vs Austria

    France declares war on Austria and Austria tells the French Revolution that if they don't put the King back in, they'll start doing horrible things to the French People. The Austrian's began cutting heads off. They said that whoever does not agree with what they say are their enemies. The punishment with not agreeing with them was getting your head cut off. They cut 16000 to 40000 heads in 2 years. They cut so many off that they had to invent a new head cutting system called the Gelatine.

    The french have complained about people always getting their heads off and after 5 years of them beginning the situation they finally agreed to stop cutting heads off. That was the end of the French Revolution and French Royalty.

    It was also significant in Australia.

    In the mid 1800s there was a gold rush.
  • Ballarat Gold Rush

    In Ballarat, gold was discovered. It was a mass rush to these areas, so they actually called the gold rushes and it broughts immigrants from everywhere. It was basically the first instances of multicultralism, but there was also vey early, ugly racism because some people didn't like some of these cultures coming in. Due to this, anti immagration sentimate and ultimately some of the first immigrattion laws to keep out certain people.

    It also had an impact because it was a time of drastically improved transportation and there was a rise of democratic ideas because many of the minors didn't have any representation so when tere were fees and taxes applied on them, they didn't have a say. There was a big rebellion and it was one of the first instances in Australia of the democratic ambitions.

    Modern History begins during the 20th century. It starts around the start of World War 1 and onwards

    Australia comes together as a country. There was a commity in the late 1800s to get Australia federated. Before Australia came together as a country, each state was a seperate colony. Once Australia federated, the communication improved and so did the travel, the trade between each state and you didn't have to pay lots of tax when you went from a state to a different state. It led to a national defence force. Each colony had it's own military before. Australia gained independence.

    This was another very significant event. It was very significant in Australia because it was the first war as a nation. It changed the womens role in society as the men were away at war. The war changed the economy and it really helped establish Australia as a country on the international scale.
