-Eisenhower ordered the CIA to train Cuban exiles to rebel and it failed. (embarassment to Kennedy)

Freedom Riders Attacked in Alabama

May 4, 1961

-When the Freedom Riders left D.C.
-The KKK attacked the first of the two buses, slashed its tires, locked the doors, and det it on fire.

Berlin Wall is Constructed

Aug 13, 1961

-People living in East Berlin tried to escape to go to West Berlin
-Soviet Union created a guarded wall to stop migration.

Cuban Missile Crisis

Oct 22, 1962

-The leader of Cuba welcomed the Soviet Union into his country
-Kennedy warned the Soviets that any missile attack from Cuba would let out an attack on the Soviet Union.

Kennedy Addresses the Nation about Civil Rights

-Kennedy says that since we are one country we must treat everyone as one (stressed equality)
-Some legislations were passed to help segregation among schools and other public places
