    Mahatma Gandhi goes to college at UCL (University College of London). He studies philosophy. He went on to become the first 'colored' lawyer on the Supreme Court.

    In 1934 he retired as the the head of the political party. Although, he was still technically their leader. He gradually began to believe they would never have any real freedom. He demanded immediate independence after helping the British in World War I- he was imprisoned for the third time from 1942-1944.

    In 1947 India finally won their freedom. They split to two countries, India and Pakistan. Hindu-Muslim riots broke out but Gandhi turned to nonviolence.

    While on his way to pray in Delhi, Gandhi was killed by a Hindu who was by Gandhi trying recover peace between Hindus and Muslims. He had been assassinated.
