    In the final week before going to Culver Creek, Miles' Mother throws him a going away party. Despite her hope only a few of Miles' "Friends" show up. Miles couldn't care less about these people and while his family is sad that he is leaving Miles can't wait for the day to come so he can move on with his boring life and become the new Miles.

    Miles arrives at Culver Creek and is presented with his first disapointment, his dorm room. Far from the tricked out place he imagines it is nothing but bare walls, a desk and bunk beds and the bathroom dishes out an even more disapointment. Trying his best to put himself in a mind frame that will put him in good standings with his roomate, Miles has the unfortunate pleasure of meeting his roomate in a towel after having a shower. Not the start he wanted.

    Having met his roomate Miles quickly realizes that this person in everything he wishes to be. Cool, into drinking, smoking, and above all somewhat popular with friends who are more than work partners. Chip Martin, the Colonel sees Miles as the akward wanna-be he is and still makes time for him, giving him the nickname of Pudge. The first step in shedding the skin of the old Miles and becoming new cool Miles.

    In no time at all Pudge and the Colonel are hitting it off. The Colonel decides he likes Miles so they can be friends and then takes him to meet Alaska. Being the resident cigarette and alchol dealer almost everyone in the school knows who she is and it was only a matter of time before their meeting.

    After the first day of school Miles in treated to initiation Culver Creek style. The traditional thing was to take the "newbie' and throw them in the lake, but this year there is a new twist. The Weekday Warriors who throw Miles in the lake decide to duct tape him before they throw him in. Causing him to almost drowned in his derperate swim back to shore.

    Earlier in the day Miles and Alaska are kicked out of world religion and then after class, they go with the Colonel and Takumi to the smoking pit. After dicussing who ratted out Marya the conversation turns to lighter topics and we see another side of Alaska when she reveals a life motto, "Y'all smoke to enjoy it, I smoke to die."

    Pudge and the Colonel attend the fist basketball game of the seaon and after taunting the other team get kicked out by an angry coach. While walking out Pudge realizes that though he might not be the cool kid he wanted to be, he is at least friends with some very cool people in his perspective. He will follow and help them like the tail of a comet because they need him and he needs them.

    Alaska drives a group of friends to McDonalds where they eat and study for precal. Miles meets his future girlfriend Lara and we see that Alaska for her bad habits is actually a very smart student who could be very good at school of she chose. "I may die young. But at least I'll die smart."

    While relazing with Alaska Miles is compelled to ask her a stupid question, why is she named Alaska? While going into a bit of detail on her personal life Alaska also reveals her ambitions for he future. But before she can go to far she stops herself and runs away to go and smoke. But while hiding in the trees with the Colonel, Takumi, and Miles they get caught by the Eagle and are sent to Jury the next day.

    After going on a triple date with the Colonel and Alask. They decide to go and watch the baskeball game and as usual they get into trouble taunting the other team. While they are running away Miles gets hit in the head with a basketball rather hard and vomits on his dates jeans. Proving he has a concusion and ending his date in a rather ungraceful way.

    Later on in the day after classes Alaska comes to Miles and the Colonel in a rage because the Weekday Warriors flooded her room and ruined her Life Library. The Colonel for all his anger can't help but admire the genuis of the prank but agrees with Alaska that retribution must be paid, and so the counter offensive begins.

    The torential rains start and Miles has an interesating conversation with Alaska. Where she tells him, I'm not really up for answering any questions that start with how,when,where,why or what. There is something different about her this time, and Miles can't figure out what is wrong with her as she leaves him in a rush. But today she seemed really sad almost like a depressed little girl who needs help but Miles will not be the one to give her the support she needs.

    The rain finally stops, while out studying Miles is contacted by Takumi who then reveals that he knows the identity of the rat. In the secret of the forest he tells Miles that Alaska was the one who ratted on Marya and might have told the Eagle about the other places the gang likes to hang out so no where is safe now, They have to keep the truth a secret because the Colonel will go balisitc and they both want to protect Alaska,

    Miles decides to stay home over Thanksgiving with Alaska at school. After getting some serious flak from the Colonel Miles ditches his parents to spend some time with Alaska. For a week they fool around, drink and read, doing all the things Miles wanted to do with Alaska.

    After spending the morning building a large volcanoe out of candle wax Miles and Alaska are on their way to MnDonalds when the Colonel appears and invites them to have turkey dinner with him and his mother in their trailer park home. Starving they are more than eager to exept. They decide to spend a few days with Chip and his mom, having a wonderful Thanksgiving.

    Alaska and Pudge go to Coosa Liquors to get booz and cigarettes. While Alaska is in high spirits that morning when they get back to campus, she shows up at Miles' door in a sobbing panic crying about how she screws everything. Miles is confused as to how to deal with this situation. And tries his best to compfort her but in the end she shows a shocking truth by letting him know she's acting the "crazy, sullen b*tch". Just another strange encounter to add to the pile.

    Miles goes home to his parents who are racked by guilt because they sent him to boarding school and he has to reasure them that they are good parents and this is trully what he wants. Oh course he can't tell them about all the trouble, drinking and smoking he's been doing. His mother teaches him to cook so he won't starve on his own even though he doesn't like to eat any of the food she's teaching him how to make.

    Alaska comes up with a great idea, a pre-prank to pull on the school with the best yet to come. The Colonel and Alaska plan to involve Miles, Takumi and Lara in their pre-prank. They will camp out at the barn for the weekend and complete the prank to return to school with no one suspecting that it was them. The Colonel and Alaska decide to leave Miles out of the planning of the prank which upsets him as he feels that his is close to both of them.
  • The Great Pre Prank

    The day of the pre-prank has come and the plan is finally revealed. Miles and Takumi are responsible for the distraction while Chip and Alaska altered progress reports for the Weeday Warriors and Lara put industrial strength blue hair dye in Kevin's room, Jeff and Longwell's. After the success of the pre-prank they spend the night at the barn drinking and having fun. Celebrating their voctory and planning ahead for the real prank.
  • Best Day Worst Day

    Still hiding out in the barn from the previous nights prank Alaska and company hang out and start drinking. They then decide to play a game where they tell about their worst and best days. The most shocking story is when Alaska tells how her mother died and Miles sees how she blames herself for not saving her mother. It's also why she sometimes starts to cry asking why she always screws everything up because if she had just called 911 her mom would still be alive.
  • The Final Masquerade

    After checking in with the Eagle they all return to their dorm rooms and sleep off their hangovers to wake up in the evening when Alaska and the Colonel get into a drinking contest while Miles watches. Later in the night when both Alaska and Chip are drunk They play truth or dare and Alaska makes out with Miles. Then she gets a phone call from Jake and springs into a rampage and asks the two of them to help her sneak off campus. It works and Alaska gets away.

    Pudge and the Colonel are woken up by the Eagle who sends them to gym where they are told that Alaska perished in a car crash that night. They both struggle with the realization that they will never see their moody devilishly sneaky friend again and the guilt that they helped her to get away. And are haunted by the thought that is they had not let her go would she still be alive?

    After disapering a few days earlier the Colonel returns from walking 84 miles in the cold of winter. Miles helps him recover and though the Colonel is still made at him they both realize that they are together in their greif.

    The funeral for Alaska is held and Miles is upset to see that it is not open coffin. Angry that his last memory of her will be the feel of her lips and the sound of her shouting. Sad that he will never see her smiling face again, that they will never pull a prank together again, or drink strawberry hill or build a volcano out of candle wax. While at her funeral they meet her dad and get a bit more insight into her and her life, how she could blame herself for the death of her mother

    A relative of Alaska is coming to clean out her room and Chip and Miles go in to make sure they take anything that her family might not want to know about. But there is one thing that Miles wants to take with him, a momentum if you will. But in the back of the General in His Labryinth the words Straight and Fast are written and for a moment they think it might have been sucide but that doesn't fit her. In that moment they decide to seek the truth about her death.

    Determined to find out what really happned to Alaska, Miles and Chip are hunting around for eye witnesses and evidence to try and peice together the night she died. The first step is to talk to the cop on the scence who's cruiser she hit and then find out how drunk she was. Then they would find out where she was going and why. In order to put their concienses to rest.
  • A Fist Full of Oatmeal Cream Pies

    Chip and Miles investigation has hit a road block and they get into a heated argument. Miles is trying derperatly to sort out the feelings Alaska might have had for him from his own fantasies, while Chip grows angrier at his selfishness. After a hard realization Miles argees that the Colonel is right and they agree to put the hard feelings aside, because they only have each other.
  • A Morning to Learn Latin

    27 Days After
    To further their investigation the Colonel and Miles decide to figure out how drunk Alaska was and to see if she could possibly hit a cop car acidently. They steal a breath alchohol tester from the Eagle and then start getting the Colonel drunk. In the middle of this they are barged in on by the Eagle and Miles takes the fall for him by smoking in their room. When the night is over they determine that it could not have been an accident, she saw the cop car.

    The Colonel decides to call Jake and find out what they talked about on the night that Alaska died. Miles and Takumi get some things straight and are pranked by the Colonel who upon returning to their room inform them both that Jake didn't know anything. That Alsaka had been normal on the phone until something happened and she freaked out. He knew about as much as they did. So another dead end.
  • Six Feet Under

    46 days After
    Miles finally talks to Lara about the whole boyfriend grilfriend thing. They make up and are on speaking terms again. Later they go to the smoking pit and start a new religion, throw a cigarette into the creek each time for Alaska. They send sometime there talking about the possibilities of Alaska's death and get no where. Everywhere they look it seems to be a dead end and the only one with answers is buried six feet under.
  • Just Doodling

    51 Days After
    Miles is calling his mom and makes a discovery that reopens the investigation of Alaska's death. In the payphone boot there is a doodle picture of tulips like the ones found in the back of Alaska's car. They agree that it was the flowers that triggered her memory but they still don't know what she remembered.
  • The Alaska Young Memorial Prank

    69 Days After
    While the entire town plans a new park for Alaska the Colonel and Miles think that they should do something funnier than that. The Colonel then decides to devulge the ultimate prank to Miles. Something he and Alaska had been saving for their senior year but in light of recent events they decide to hold it this year in honor of Alaska.
  • Dr. William Mores

    84 Days After
    The plan has been outlined and now they must put it into action. Miles must get his dad to help them pull of the greatest prank Culver Creek has seen yet. While the Colonel has to find a striper, Miles has to convince the Eagle to let them bring Dr.William Morse in to speak for the junior class.
  • The Big Day

    102 Days After
    The prank is begun and goes off without a hitch, fooling teachers and students alike. After the prank the rest of the speeches go as planned but that night the Eagle pays them a visit. He kindly informs the inhabitants of room 43 he knows they planned the prank but the punishment ends there. He simply smiles and admires the speech written for Maxx before leaving them to celebrate their success.
  • The Realization

    114 Days After
    While hanging out in Miles room the group comes to a sudden realization. That Alaska was going to her moms grave that night. That the reasom for her being so mad was that she thought that she was failing her mother because she forgot to go to her grave on the anaversary of her death, Now that the mystery of Alaska has been solved they all feel a sense of peace and serenity.
  • In the End All Shall Pass

    Takumi leaves a note for Miles telling how he too let Alaska go on that night. Miles tries to talk to him but he has already left for Japan. With the new information brought to life by Takumi, Miles is finally able to let Alaska go. In his final religion paper he writes a goodbye to Alaska and in the final pages he truly realizes the meaning she was trying to get him to understand since the begining, and that his great perhaps is only just beginging.
