    Women's groups combined into national associations. Association of Advancement for Women did ambitious projects to reform political abuses.
  • Creation of Universities

    Creation of Universities
    University of Chicago was created and Standford and Rockefeller donated more than $75 million. The amount of people going to college doubled. This was important for the advancement in education of Americans
  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    Plessy v. Ferguson
    An African American, Homer Plessy, went to court because he thought he should have equal protection but the court said segregation was legal they were meant to be "seperate-but-equal".
  • Niagra Movement

    Niagra Movement
    A group of African Americans wanted civil rights, to end racial descrimination, and to be recognized as humans so they formed this group. This lead to the creation of the National Advancement for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
  • National Association for the Advancement of Colored People formed

    National Association for the Advancement of Colored People formed
    Leaders of the Niagara movement formed the NAACP. It helped abolish segregation. It had 6,000 members. They got the supreme court to declare grandfather clauses in voting laws unconstitutional.
