Gaining The Vote
Roger MacBride and his running mate David Bergland, gain ballot status in 32 states. They receive over 170,000 votes. -
Libertarians Rise
Ed clark recieves 5% of votes to become the governor of California. Dick Randolph becomes the first Libertarian State Legislator of Alaska. Libertarian votes received 80,000 permanent votes. -

Control of the Health Care System
40 Libertarians are elected in the Senate. LP activists participate to stop President Clinton’s takeover of the nation’s health care system. -

Third Party Status
The LP becomes the first third party in U.S. history to earn ballot status in all 50 states 2 presidential elections in a row. -

The African-American civil rights leader Roy Innis joins the LP. A talk radio powerhouse Art Bell joined the party as well. The party sets a new record by running 853 candidates in 44 states. -

800 Libertarian candidates run for office. Libertarians running for U.S. House receive over 1,073,000 votes. Pamela Brown, ran against both a Republican and a Democrat for California Lieutenant Governor and receives 574,640 votes.154 Libertarians hold a seat in the elected office.
