    Hammurabi's Code was a set of 282 laws inscribed in stone by the Babylonian king, Hammurabi. This code influenced the laws of other cultures because it was the most clearly defined. Hammurabi concurred, then ruled ancient Mesopotamia in 1792-1750 BC. It is a set of harsh laws and punishments, A lot of which resulting in death or amputations.

    was made on the 5 nations that bordered Lake Ontario. The Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca. Hiawatha is the one who proposed the idea of the great law of peace to the peace maker. He was born and raised in Onondaga, but did not agree with their ways of ruling, so therefore moved to the Mohawk tribe.

    The Great Law Of Peace is a code of law that was passed on throughout these 5 tribes to unite them and stop them from fighting and killing each other. Law 9 states that questions or concerns shall be proposed to Mohawk and Seneca then to Oneida and Cayuga then to Onondaga for the final judgement. In todays legal system we have a very similar system, It has to go through the house of commons, senate, and then the Governor General.

Quebec is the only province or territory in Canada that uses this code, the rest uses common law. Quebec is the only bijuridical province in Canada today, the French civil code helps them regulate civil matters.
