  • The Declaration of Independence

    It is a doucument of the people declaring their freedom from Britian. The Declaration also states all the things the King of England did wrong. The Declaration of Independence is very important because if it did not happen we would still be apart of Britian.
  • Creation and signing of the U.S. Constitution

    The U.S. constitution draft was created in 1787, but it was official on September 17, 1787. The Constitution is a written set of laws, how the government should operate, and how the power is divided. The Constitution is very important to this country because, the Articles of Confederation was almost a complete failure, the Constitution is what keeps the government balanced, and our country together/ protected. It also kept us from not turning into another England.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    Thomas Jefferson bought .5 billion acres of land from the French that doubled the size of United States. Which made migration to the west a lot easier and gave more land to the Americans for farming/ slavery. Jefferson then sent Lewis and Clark on their expedition to go explore the land and further out west.

    The Gold Standard

    The gold standard is a set law that is that all money is backed with a small bit of gold. However, many populists wanted greenbacks to be backed with silver because there was much of it. This would lead to inflation and would cause money to be almost worthless if there was so much of it. This is important because without the gold standard product prices would increase and the maker of the product would be getting a lot of money. Also money would start to become worthless.

    California Gold Rush

    The California Gold Rush all started because of one man. HIs name was James W. Marshall. Once everyone else discovered their was gold out in the west a lot of immigrants and people looking for easy money left the east and started traveling west in search for gold. These people were called " the forty- niners" because everyone orignally started traveling in that year. The Gold rush started to end in the year of 1855.

    Battle of Gettysburg

    The battle of gettysburg happened when the north and south met and broke out in a bloody 3 day battle. It is know as one of the bloodiest battles in the United States. The north won and the reason this is important is because it changes the outcome of the war completely. The north has more advantages and now was then on top.
  • Lincoln's Assasination

    Abraham Lincoln was Assasinated by John Wilkes Booth in Ford's Theater on April 15th, 1865. Abe was watching "Our American Cousin" when John snuck into the President's box when the guard left. John shot Abe in the back of the haed when weveryone was clapping so they didn't know what was going on. This is an important event because after Lincoln died the government had no sympathy for the south which caused for a long and hard reconstruction after the Civil War.

    Ellis Island

    Ellis Island was the last stop before becoming an American Citizen. Imisgrants coming to the eastern side of America woud go through Ellis Island to be registered as an American citizen. After 1954 Ellis Island was opened as a museum for tourists. The importance of this event is that this was the time immigrants from all over could become apart of the United States.

    The Great Depression

    The Great Depression happened becasue of the crash of the stock market and the economical depression. People were left eating mush and left with nothing; while people were also being drafted into the army. This is important becasue it is a reminder on how we have to keep the economics and stock market up to date, so we don't fall back into another great depression
  • Martin Luther King Jr. "I have a dream" speech

    Martin Luther King's "I have a dream speech" was about how African American or different race then white should have equal rights as everyone else. Be able to drink out of the same water fountain, sit where ever they want to on the bus, and go to the same school. He just wanted everyone to be equal as much as possible. If this event didn't happen me (as in a white) would be raised to treat different races badly. We would still be discriminating against people and that is not fair or right.
  • Eruption of Mt. St. Helens

    Mount St. Helens located in the state of Washington volcanically erupted in 1980. The people of Washington figured something was up when they were noticing a lot of earthquakes and pressure from the volcano. As well as steam coming from the volcano. . On a Sunday an earthquake caused the, “weakened part of the north face of the volcano to slide away which caused the biggest land slide ever recorded,” according to (wikipedia.org.)   • My Birthday

    I was born at 10:30pm in Women's and Babies Hospital of Lancaster. My family consists of my dad Jesse, mom Joanne, my oldest sister Hannah (16), and my youngest sister Sophia (7). I also have two lab dogs and two goldfish. Today as an 8th grader my interests are; student council, President of Varsity Club, basketball, lacrosse, friends, and family. I also plan to be playing the guitar for another hobby of mine.
  • Terrorist Attacks of 9/11/01

    “On September 11th, 2001, 19 militants connected with the Islamic extremist group and hijacked four airplanes,” according to (www.history.com) Two crashed into both twin towers. Another crashed into the Pentagon; and the other crashed in a field in Pittsburgh. The only reason why the White House did not get attacked was because men rushed the cockpit on the Pittsburgh plane.
