Shortly after the cannon fire dies down the Confederate army charges the Union position, straight in the face of Union cannon fire and up the hill under fire. Brigadier General Lewis Armistead leads his brigade in charge. They were already extremely weekend from the first charge on Little Round Top the day before.

Brigadier General Lewis Armistead dies from his wounds on the battlefield shortly after his charge on the Union position failed. He dies surrounded by Union soldiers. His last words are to a Union soldier to tell General Hancock that he is sorry.
