    The introduction of one of the first tools to rate student behavior is introduce. It was a norm-referenced questionarire for parents, teachers, and students. It looked at how well typical school and home behaviors were mastered.

    It is at this time that it is made known that classroom management affects behavior. Many different classroom management styles were introduced to help teachers curb unnecessary behaviors.

    Definition Checklists

    During this timespan, a huge increase in edcuation and studies about best practices for identifying students took off. Many checklists were formed to help with the identification process.
  • Multicultural Awareness

    Hoover and Collier studied the prevalence of multipcultural issues with students with disablilities. Teachers need to be aware of cultural differences and provide appropirate accomodations to help a student of a different background succeed before they are identified.
  • The Waksman Social Skills Rating Scale

    This is another rating bahvior scale that also had a social skills curriclum attached to it. It looked a agressive and passive behaviors.
  • IDEA 1997

    At this time the Individual with Disablilities Act was amended. It included all student who were emotional challenged. It did specify the difference between emotionally challenged and socially maladjusted (which couldn't qualify).
  • PBIS

    From my own personal knowledge this is when PBIS came to be prevalent in my school system. Upon further research, It actually started back in the 1980s. Then in the 1990s it was perfected at the University of Oregon. It was really widely known after IDEA 1997.
