    Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution is a time when manufactoring methods were changed. Instead of doing everything by hand, many businesses went to using machines instead. This made production of products faster and goods could be imported and exported at a higher rate and price. Also people started using coal, and oil instead of wood for fuel. It was a great change in America as well as many other countries.
  • The Declaration of Independence was signed

    The Declaration of Independence was the document that Thomas Jefferson wrote to declare the colonists free from England. Delagents from all of the colonies signed the document and they sent it to England. The King was mad so he sent troops to show the now free Americans who is boss. That marks the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

    The Constitutional Convention

    The Constitution was written during the Constitutional Convention in 1787. The delegnets originaly gathered there to change the Articles of Conederation but ended up writing a whole knew document.
  • The Constitution was signed

    On September 17th, 1787 after a few months at the constitutional convention, the constitution was sigened. This was America's new governemdnt. The Articles of Confederation was the first government of the US, but it was almost a complete failure so the leaders of each state came togehter to write the Constitution. This was a major part of our country because this document changed our governement from almost failing, to one of the strongest in the world.

    California Gold Rush

    The California Gold Rush is the biggest migration of people that was not forced by the government. Over 250,000 people flocked to California to get rich on gold that was completely free to mine. There were no taxes on the gold so you could just go dig it up. It was "finders,keepers" in that time. During the California Gold Rush, many big cities today were built and still reflect the personalities from back then. San Franciso is one of the many cities that was built during this time.
  • Invention of the Bessemer Process

    The Bessemer process was the process in which steel was produced. Molten iron was poured into the top of the machine and then it was blasted with air. The minerals that were not blown away is what made steel. Steel is stronger and lighter then iron. This invention was important because it allowed steel to be mass produced for a low cost. Steel is what built America in the 19th and 20th centries.

    Civil War

    The Civil War was fought between the North and the South; the Union and the Confederacy. The war was caused by Southern states seceding from the Union. The Union disliked slavery and teh South needed slavery so they fought. The battle was in the south's favor until the Battle of Gettysburg and the Siege of Vicksburg. These two battle changed the tide and the Union won in the end. The Civil War was the bloodiest battle on American soil. Our country would be different if it didnt happen.

    Reconstruction

    Reconstruction was the period after the Civil War when the country was repairing itself. Abraham Lincoln had plans for a peaceful repair, but since he was murdered Andrew Johnson took over. Johnson hated slavery, but he was rascist towards blacks so not much was done to help them. Union troops were stationed in the south to keep things under control. 12 years later it ended with the Compromise of 1877. Reconstruction was important for rebuilding America after the Civil War.

    Chinese Exclusion Act

    The Chinese Exclusion Act banned Chinese immigrants from entering the country for 10 years. The Americans did not like the Chinese because they worked longer for less money. The Americans claimed that they stole their jobs so the government banned the Chinese from entering the country. This is an important event because it shows the racism toreards other races and cultures.
  • stockmarket crash

    The stockmarket was at its highest through the 1920's and is known as the technological golden age from the invention of many new devices. All was well, the stockmarket was rising everyday until 1929. In the fall of 1929 the stockmarket went through many days of prices plummiting. This caused fear, and anxiety to the investors. This is important to America because it reminds us of the bad time that we will prevent from happening again.
  • Atomic Bombing on Hiroshima, Japan

    The atomic bombing on Hiroshima, Japan marked the end of World War ll which was fought between the Axis,( Japan Germany Italy etc.) and the Allies. (US, UK, Soviet Union, China etc.) It also secured the winning of the Allies and the fall of the Axis. Finally it marked the first time ever using atomic bombs in combat. It is important because it ended the war in Asia as well as everywhere else.

    Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War was a war between south and north Vietnam and many other powerhouse countries in the world. The north Vietnam area also known as the communists wanted to take over south Vietnam also known as the anti-communists and make them communists. This is important to our history because it marks the 20 year time peirod where America fought bravely for something that they believe in, but played a major price.
  • My Birthday

    I was born on Febuary 13th, 2001. I was born at the Women and Baby Hospital in Lancaster. My due date was supposed to be March 11th but I came almost month early. I live with my mom and dad and my little sister who is in first grade. We adopted her from China in 2010. Today as an 8th Grader my instersts are sports. I play three sports at school, soccer, basketball and track. I also enjoy the subjets social studies, math and science.
  • Attack on the twin towers

    On September 11th, 2001 4 commercial aircraft carrying passengers were hijacked by 19 terrorists. 2 crashed into the north and south towers of the world trade center burning them and surronding building to the ground. 1 flight crashed into the west side of the Pentagon. Finally the 4th flight was headed for Washington DC but the passengers over threw the hijackers and crash landed in Shanksville, PA. This time is important because of the destuction of the World Trade Center.
