Armenian Massacre
The Armenian Massacre occured in Europe, this was between the Ottoman Empire and Armenian Christian. Since the Ottoman people didn't want them in their country becasue they were Christian they were imprisoned, deported, and killed. Around 300,000 people were killed because Ottomans didn't want Christians in their empire. -
Soviet Purges
The Soviet Purges took place is Russia led by Joseph Stalin. The people in Russia who did not have Russian descent were involved. The people were doing nothing wrong, but just living in Russia not breaking any laws and they were imprisoned. Joseph Stalin was trying to get rid of all people who were not Russian out of Russia. Tens of millions of people were imprisoned during this time and many were killed. -
Rape Of Nanjing
The Rape of Nanjing occured in China were the Japanaese went into China and invaded it. The invasion was the Japanaese billing Chienese for money, torturing many innocent people and forcing Chienese to dig their own graves. Their human rights were violated by coming into the country forcefully and killing people because the Japanese government ordered it. Their were over 300,000 deaths in the Rape of Nanjing. -
German Holocaust
The German Holocaust took place in Germany. The jewish people in Germany and other areas were involved with the holocaust. They were sent to concentratoin camps, were many were killed and tortured. This violated human rights because the Nazi's hated jewish people and wanted to get rid of them. Over 180,000 jewish people were killed because of the holocaust. -
South African Apartheid
It took place in South Africa where the white superiorority took power over the people. They lost their rights in what they could, and where they could live. They were segregated whites were better than blacks in the minds of many. This happened because while political parties didn't like blacks and wanted them gone. More than 3 million were affected by this. They were sent back to their homeland or the ones who revolted were killed. -
My Lai Massacre
The massace happened in South Vietnam, the American soldiers and a majority of South Vietnam's population was involved. The American soldiers violated the human rights of the South Vietnamaese population by killing them innocently. This happened because the Vietnam War was happening and this was one of the American attacks. More than 500 South Vietnamaese people were killed. -
Uganda under Idi Amin
This took place in Uganda under their President Idi Amin. The Asians were involved with Uganda soldiers. The president wanted to get rid of Asian people in Uganda. The human rights were violated by becasue they were Asian they couldn't be there. The president used nationalism to get rid of them. 100,000 to 500,000 people caused corruption and some were killed. -
Chile under Augusto Pinochet
This took place in Chile were Augosto Pinochet got rid of people that didn't like his political ideas. Augusto Pinochet didn't tolerate people who didn't like his ideas so he imprisoned 40,000 people and 1,850 people were killed. -
Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge took place in Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge was a group of soldiers who were from the North Vietnamaese. They tried to get rid of people who had Cambodian descent. They racially profiled towards a group of people and took away rights grom their government. After the Khmer Rouge went through Cambodia it was tottaly gone. After the reign of Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge 1.5 million were dead as a cause of them. -
Missing People during Dirty War in Argentina
This occured in Argentina where there was a period of terrorism. There were people all over Argentina who had been kidnapped without reason. The vialaton was carried out by many of the kidnappers kidnapped thousands and didn't give them back. They took innocent people without any reason which was unfair. It happened in response to the guerillas and the People's Revolutionary Army. They tried to get rid of them and they did. More than 18,000 people had been kidnapped and affected. -
Iraq under Saddam Hussein
This happened in Iraq where the people of Iraq had been under the rule of for quite a while. Suddam Hussein had many human right violations. He had a secret police, used torture, mass murder, rape, deportations, forced disappearances, assassinations, and used chemical warfare. This happened because Suddam Hussein didn't want his power given up. It is unknown how many people were affected during his time of reign. -
Somalia Civil War
This happened in Somalia, Africa, it was a civil war within eachother that they argued over certain things with eachother. Since this war happened there was a consolidation of states, the Fall of Barre Regime and a conflict of Islamic Radicalist and the government of Somalia. This happened because a revolting group tried to question and challenge the long standing government. Since this happening there has been over 500,000 casualities. -
Sierra Leone and the child soldiers
This happened in West Africa where children in Sierra Leone were recruited to be soldiers. Thousand of children were recruited to be soldiers and they were forced to watch death so that's all they knew how to do. This is a human rights violation because the military is corrupting children. There was a war going on so they were used to patrol, attack and guard places. Over 50,000 were affected because of the civil war. -
Genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovin
The genocide occured in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Serbs were against the Muslims in Bosnia. The Serbs were against the Muslims becasue they were muslim and the Serbs did not have religious tolerance. This happened because the Serbs tried to get rid of the Muslims. They got rid of over 200,000 muslims in a massive killing. -
Rwanda Genocide
The Rwanda Genocide took place in Rwanda were Belgiums took control of Rwanda. Rwanda had no rights after Belgium took it over, they lost all political power and regular rights. The Belgiums tried ot take over Rwanda and they succeded. When Rwanda tried to revolt they were killed. Many men and women were killed and many women were raped. After the genocide over 800,000 people had died. -
Darfur Conflict
This happened in Darfur, Sudan where the people in Darfur argued with each other about land and religion. This was a bad human rights violation because many chldren were forced to be soldiers. They were forced to see bad things so they got corrupt and were good soldiers. This happened because they argued about religious problems and about land. There were 15,000-20,000 people who were killed because of this.
