Cause- Women wanted to be treated equally
Effect- Women were able to attend college, and train for proffesions women were treated more as equals.

Abraham lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth April/14/1865 and died the morning of April/15/1865

were incapable of being put in office due to circumstance.

Summary- Leland Stanford Drove the final spike in for the transcontinental railroad.
Cause- Transcontinetal Railroad was finally completed
Effect- The first transcontinental railroad was finished making it easier to transport goods from one place to another.

Thomas Edison creates the first functional Light Bulb
Summary- Exact day not known/ Thomas Edison was not the first to create a light bulb, but he was the first to meke one that would last long enough to be useful.
Cause- Thomas Edison improved the design of the light bulb to make it more functional

Effect- people could be up at night with no problem because the light bulbs were much brighter than candles. -
Ellis Island opens for the first time
Summary- ellis island was a federal immigration processing station
Cause- Federal was able to admit immigrants into america and states were no longer able to do so.
Effect- Immigrants were processed through federal jurisdiction rather than state jurisdiction -
Wright Brothers complete their first successful flight
Summary- Wright brother fly for the first time
Cause- The wright brothers worked for years trying to create a "flying machine".
Effect- After the first successful flight many improved the designs and improved the plane creating better/faster/safer planes over the years

Summary- War that lasted four years and was responsible for over 16 million deaths and 20 million wounded
Cause- Although there were several reasons that played into starteing WWI the main reason was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie by Gavrilo Princip
Effect- The most horrible war of that time with the largest death toll in history -
World War I Ends
Summary- Germany fomally surrendered November 11, 1918 and the nations agreed to stop fighting While the terms of peace were negotiated
Cause- Germany surrendered
Effect- The end of the first world war -
Women Are Allowed To Vote
Summary. Women were finally given the right to vote
Cause- Women wanted to be treated more equally and wanted to decide who the leaders of the country should be.
Effect- Women felt much more equal and felt as though they finally had the chance to make a difference. -
Manhattan Project
Summary- Germany was working on creating the atomic bomb. Albert Einstein and Enrico Fermi Decided that they needed to inform th epresident of the potential dangers of the nuclear material that the axis powers were testing.
August 15 1947 Manhattan project ends
cause- Albert Einstein informed the president about the potential danger and convinced him to start his own nuclear testings.
effect- the Manhattan project is started.

Summary- The second World war began

Effect- Many countries were devastated and were continually being bombed -

Summary- The war that caused over 60 million deaths is finally over
Cause- Japans Unconditional surrender after the nuclear bombs were dropped. Germany's unconditional surrender
Effect- The war was finally over, but many countries were in devastated and destroyed by the war. -
Ellis Island Closes
Summary- Ellis island is closed after many active years.
Cause- Ellis Island was declared excess Federal property.
Effect- Ellis Island was eventually opened to the public for tours of the island -
Vietnam War
Summary- America "assisted" Vietnam in an attempt to stop or stall communism from spreading
Causes- Communism was spreading

Summary - J.F.K was shot at three times the first shot missed but the last two shots did not
Cause- Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated the president
Effect- businesses and schools closed temporarily/ people were shocked

9/11
Summary- World trade center andthe pentagon is attacked
Cause- Three planes were hijacked and used to suicide bomb the world trade center and pantagon. It is believed that al-Qaeda is responsible for the attack but not proven since the attackers were all dead and therefore incapable of being interrogated.
Effect- Americans were shocked and horrified by the attack
