Music began in the early 1950s when people began to expand their knowledge about almost everything. Music in the 1950s was very complex and was very different from the music that we have today. Rock and Roll was the most popular style of music in the 50s.The first person to use the term "rock and roll" was a disk jockey from Ohio, Alan Freed. -

Chuck Berry is considered to be a pioner for the style of music that was the most beloved in the 1950s. This beloved musicial styling was "Rock and Roll." The song that he is best known for is Maybellene. -
The King
Elvis Presley, also known as the king first started singing in 1955. Elvis rocked the charts from the very first day that he stepped onto stage. “Jailhouse Rock” is a song by him that was very popular. This song was first released in 1957 in the major motion film Jailhouse Rock. He was never forgotten especially for his signature moves and wonderful music. -

A very famous band that came along in the 1960s was The Rolling Stones. They are an English rock band, formed in London in April 1962 by Brian Jones who played the guitar and harmonica, Ian Stewart the man on the piano, Mick Jagger the lead vocals, and Keith Richards another guitar player for the band. The Rolling Stones most popular song was “Times is on my Side”. The band got its name from a song written by an artist called Muddy Waters. The song is called "Rollin Stone". -

Music in the 1960s was ruled by The Beatles who rocked the charts. They were a British Band formed in Liverpool, who definitely left a mark on everyone that ever heard any of their musical stylings. The Beatles began making their beloved tunes in this decade and were very popular ever since. By 1962 the group consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals). -

One artist that pretty much everyone has heard of was Don Mclean. By the age of five he developed alove for all types of music. McLean recorded his first album, Tapestry, in 1969 in Berkeley, California. After being rejected by 34 labels, the album was released. The transition to international stardom began in 1971 with the release of "American Pie”. "American Pie” was recorded on 26th May 1971. This great song was first released in 1971 and gained a spot in people's hearts right away. -

An artist that sang in the 70s that may not be known by many people today but was famous then is Carole King. She was most successful as a performer in the first half of the 1970s, although she was a successful songwriter long before and long after. The album was well received critically and catapulted Adele to record breaking success, selling 208,000 copies in its first week in the UK and debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart, a position it managed to hold for sixteen weeks. Adele's soothing and beautiful music currently plays on the radio and is bought by many. -
