Chapter 1, 1-73
In the beginning of the book, Susannah, Belly's basically second mom, dies because of liver cancer. At the reception of the funeral Belly and Conrad get into a big fight. After Belly has been back in her own home town for a couple weeks, Jeremiah calls and tells Belly that Conrad has disappered and asks her to help him look for her. 1-73; Pages Total 349 -
Chapter 12, 74-131
After Jeremiah calls Belly to help him find Conrad, they find out that Conrad wen to Cousins Beach, the old beach house that Belly and Conrad's family went to every summer until Susannah died. When they get to Cousins it is clear that Conrad doesn't want Belly there. 74-131; Pages Total 406 -
Chapter 20, 132- 275
Jeremiah and Belly are not doing such a great job at convinching Conrad to come back to school. Conrad's dad later shows up and yells at Conrad for making the movers leave and are stopping the house sale. Belly figures out why Conrad went to the summer house, it wasnt to run away from his mother's death, it was to save her house. The morning that they had orinially planned on leaving, Belly's mom shows up and eventually convinces Mr. Fisher not to sell the house.
