    Assab is a town of the coast of the Red Sea. It's significance is that it was Italy's first overseas territory.

    Italy was granted Tianjin as a concession from the Chinese government. In 1902, Italy gained full control over the concession and installed a Consul. This became the headquarters for Italy's training grounds in 1919

    During World War I, Italy had established itself as a protectorate until it was later lost to Britain in World War II

    Italy established a protectorate in Albania to keep it from falling into the hands of Austria-Hungary during World War I
