When what is now Italy was divided into seperate states. An Italian King Sardinia to the north, but Austria ruled other northern states. The barbon's ruled to the south, & the pope owned anything around Rome.

Giuseppe Garibaldi Gathered more than 1,000 people overthrew the government in Sicily.

Italy became a united country. Ten years later Rome became it's capitol.
