When Italy was invaded by Napoleon. The states were unified one goverment. However when Napoleon was defeated, the congress of Vienna split the states up. -

The war for Italian Unification started. Giuseppe Garibaldi continued fighting so the rest of Itali´s states would be unified. Becoming part of the young italy. In South America, he learned Guerevilla War, which he later used gain control of Sicily. He had followers called "red shirts". During this war Giuseppe, the red shirts, and Cavour gained Lomvardi, Sicily, and Naples. -

Italy becames united under the rule of the King Emmanuel. They did this by electing if the Italian states should be unified or not. Unification did not apply to Venetia or the Papal States. Was were the french troops supported the pope. Unification was completed the italians side with the Prussians in a war between Austrians and Prussians. The Prussians won venetia and gave it to Italy along the with Rome, wich they got from forcing the french to bring their troops back to France. -

Italy made alliances with Astro-Hungay and Germany, this alliance is called the triple alliance. This agreements started that they need to defend each other against any possible attacks. -

Rome is declared as the capital of Italy. Although Italy is unified, they still many reasons why italians, as people, aren´t unified, such as the southern Italians waiting to be governed by Rome
