    Tang Dynasty-The introduction to Islam.

    The introduction of Islam is really thought to of been spread via Arabia to Guangzhou, Quanzhou in 651.

    The Book of Tang which dates from 651 AD to 798, tells of tradesmen whom traveled endlessly to and from their homes from China selling their wares and returning home with items such as tea and silk from China.     Muslims from Bukhara

    Shen-Tsung the Song Emperor invited 5,300 Muslim men from Bukhara to settle in China in 1070. He then had them moved to where they would settle between the Sung capital of Kaifeng and Yen Ching. The reason for the move was so he could create a divide between the Chinese and the Liao.

    Additional 10,000 Muslim's move to China

    Then in 1080 an additional 10,000 men and woman arrived and settled in north and north-east provinces. Prince Amir Sayyid was the ruler of this area and became known as the “father” of the Muslim community in China.

    Yuan Dynasty

    The Mongols controlled the Yuan dynasty and Muslims were put into positions that never would have been heard of in the previous dynasties. The Yuan territory was divided into 12 smaller districts and 8 of them were governed by a Muslim. The additional 4 districts were appointed a Muslim vice-governor. Migration to this area was enforced by the state and the population grew to 4,000,000 Muslims.

    Ming Dynasty

    With the Yuan dynasty ending, the Ming dynasty brought a brighter future for Muslims, they were given the freedom to practice their religion and live as normal citizens of Beijing. And an Islamic center of learning was constructed in the capital of Nanjing

    The Ming dynasty was invaded by the Qing dynasty in 1644. This period led to the demise of many Muslims. Several rebellions took place and one imparticular rebellion between the Qing and the Yunnanese caused such devastation many Muslims had to seek refuge elsewhere and several million Muslims perished during the massacre.
