Hero made the first steam engines. The didn't really do anything until people invented turbines. Since them they have owered machines and trains and stuff as they get better. We have big steam power plants nowadays.

The Romans had machines to press olives. Using these they could get olive juice and olive oil. This was useful for food.

Persians made the first windmills. Using wind power they could power other machines. These were later adapted for grain grinding things for wheat and stuff. Nowadays we have big windmills that get wind power for electricity.

The chinese made the first solid fuel rockets that worked on gunpower. Earliest firearms. New era of weapons. For China at least.

Johannes Guttenburg invented the printing press. This allowed mass production of books and other things with words. Very useful. Nowadays we have computers and printers but printing press things are still used for newspaper mass production.

Plumbing was invented like in 2700 BC by people but pipes and stuff didnt start being used a lot until the 1800s in cities. Now we have piped everywhere for lots of stuff like sewage and water and gas and other things that are transported in pipes.

The invention of the electric generator starts with Anyos Jedlik. He made the frst dynamos which led to electromagnetic generators. THis led to a lot fo stuff using electricity because electricity is cool and stuff.

Some guy invented the cool blind with the string you can pull to lift them up in 1888. They are useful so they make it so people can't always be lookin in your house and stuff because that would suck.

Film was originally light sensitive chemicals on glass and stuff. Eastman Kodac invented better film then someone else made better film out of plastic which sucked because it was dangerous and highly flammable. Later in the 1920s Kodak made some non-flammable film that we use today is crappy disposable cameras.

Einstein made plans for lasers in 1917 using some crazy physics stuff but he never actually made one himself. Other people made lasers later using his ideas. They shoot beams of light and stuff. Higher powered lasers can cut things.
