    ARPANET is proposed by J.C.R. Licklider. He has the idea of a "galactic network" of computers that could "talk" to one another.
  • First two computers are conected cross country

    Lawrence G. Roberts and Thomas Merrill connect TX-2 in Massachussetes and to the Q-32 in California.
  • ARPANET released

    The first message is succesfully sent through ARPANET.
  • EMail is created

    Ray Tomlinson working for BBN creates the first program devoted to emails
  • ARPA changes name

    ARPA becomes DARPA
  • Internet gets a name

    Kahn and Cerf to the system as Internet for the first time
  • Ethernet comes into play

    Ethernet is created by Dr. Robert M. Metcalfe.
  • AT&T Bell Labs creation

    AT& T Bell Labs develops UUCP and UNIX
  • T1 lines

    MCI creates T1 lines to allow for faster transportation of information over the internet.

    The first search engine is launched "Archie"

    Nokia releases fist phone with internet access
