  • Revolution In Great Britain

    The revolution started in Great Britain ing the 1780s. The revolution had many causes, one was an increase in food becase of larger farmland, good weather, and new crops. Another reason was, Britain had plenty of money. Third, Great Britain had natural resourses like, water, coal, and iron ore. Lastly, Markets gave the manufacturers somewhere to sell their goods.
  • Robert Fulton builds the first paddel-wheel steamboat

    The paddle-wheel steamboat was built to move goods across any body of water. By 1860 many steamboats were being used in the Mississippi alone. The first steamboat was named Clermont. Picture from www.clemson.edu.
  • Congress of Vienna meets

    The Congress of Vienna was a meeting of Europes leaders to restore the old order. The leaders came from the countries Great Britain, Austria, Prussia and Russia. This meeting was lead by an Austrian foriegn minister named Prince Klemens von Metternich. Picture from Wikipedia
  • First public railway line opens in Britian

  • Factory Act reduces Child labor

  • Courbet paints The Stonebreakers

    Realism became very popular in the 1850s. The artist would strive to show the ordinary life of ordinary people, France became the leader of realism in the world. The most famous realist painter in teh world was Gustave Courbet.   • Crimean War begins

    Russia and Ottomon Empire struggled to get along which resulted in the Crimean War. The Ottomon Empire had controlled land in the Balkans for a long time, but the Russisans wanted to expand their territory in the Balkans. They specifically wanted this land because itt would give them access to the Mediteranian Sea. Having this access they could becaome a great power of Europe and challenge the British navy.   • Fance-Prussian War Begun

    During the war with Prussia France withdrew their troops from Rme, whih allowed Italy to annex Rome in September 1870.
  • German Unification Achieved

    After the Frankfurt Assembly failed to achieve unification, Germany looked to Prussia to lead. Prussia had powerfull leadership.
