    The Sea Trade Route

    The first direct sea trade route that went to from Europe to Asia was established in 1498 when Vasco da gama of Portugal had reached the port of Calicut on the southwestern coast of India.
  • The British EIC First Factory Post

    The British EIC established it's first factory post in Masulipatnam. This is just the beginning, the European taste for spices, textiles, and jewelry that would be lead further establishments in the region.
  • The EIC Competing

    The EIC had to compete with Dutch, French, and Portuguese merchants. The EIC had a mission to expand more efficiency, leading to the company receiving freedom to act as a free entity. This act granted King Charles II to give the EIC power to colonize territories.
  • The New Powers of The Company British Ruler

    The EIC was able to fight the other European merchants in the India region in order to get power and to get larger. It had also allowed the EIC to wage war on the states in the Indian region.
  • Control of the Territories

    The Sepoy mutiny led to the direct control of the territories previously captured by the EIC by the British crown. The British Crown obviously did not want to lose total control of the region, so they stepped in to keep that region under its control. The British Crown was established the British Raj to rule over India after taking over for the EIC.
  • Government of India

    The Government of India Act transferred full governing authority from the EIC to the British government.
  • Such One Challenge

    One such challenge was the Salt March in 1930 which was a nonviolent show of civil disobedience led by Gandhi, they protested the British monopoly on salt.
  • The End of the British

    By the end of War World II, the British were ready to just give up rule in India which led to Indian independence and the partition of the ruled area into two separate nations- Pakistan and India. When the British walked off away India and Pakistan were no longer the wealthiest regions in the world, they are now among the bottom.
