The Spanish conquistadors come and bring smallpox, which lasts from 1518 to 1527. The Inca aren't used to it and many native people died, including Huayna Capac, the current ruler, and his heir. It started a civil war between the two brothers that survived.

Atahualpa won the civil war and was leading his army when Spanish conquistadors invaded and took him captive. Atahualpa died a year later and when the Spanish conquistadors took over the city, some remaining Incan people escaped and survived for 40 more years until the conquistadors wiped them out too.
