    -This causes him to change his route for Virgil Tibbs
    -Which makes him a suspect of the murder of Mr. Mantoli

    -Tibbs first time showing he is a really good detective by explaining how Harvey Oberst is innocent.

  • First visit to the Endicott household

    -Where Sam first develops his feelings for Duena Mantoli

  • Sam takes Virgil with him on his "modified" route

    -Sam stands up to Ralph for Virgil.
    -Tipping point to when Guillespie thinks Sam is a suspect and he arrests him. Which makes Guillespie think Sam is hiding something.

  • Virgil Tibbs goes into the diner

    -When Tibbs arrests Ralph for manslaughter in the second degree

  • Going to the Endicott's house for the final time

    -Virgil explained how he figured out it was Ralph who murdered Erico.
    -When Guillespie gave the recognition for solving the case to Virgil and Sam.
