    Columbus Exploration
    Columbus's exploration is so important in shaping America because it gave more intrist in American than it currently had, his exploration also began the first colony.
  • Jamestown

    Jamestown
    Jamestown was the first perminant English settlement in North American. The settlers in Jamestown grew crops and had perminate houses. This being the very first of the perminat English colonies inspired, or began a trend persay, as many other colonies began to form.
  • House of Burgesses

    House of Burgesses
    The House of Burgesses began as a meeting of 20 people in Virgina. This event is extreamly important in American History because although starting out small, it was the first legislative body that was enacted in a Colony of the English in America. Although they may have not known the first of many legislative bodies to come.
  • Slavery Introduced

    Slavery being introduced in Virgina was so important in shaping America not only because many of the plantations they worked on may not have survived if it was not for the slaves doing the manual labor to bring in much cash making the colonies and plantation owners very rich, but as well the conflicts it caused in the future. Slavery was a prolonging problem and conflic in America and this is where it all began.
  • Seven Years War / French and Indian War

    In the Seven Years War the colonist considered themselves a huge contrabution to the war, Britain saw that the colonist hardley helped out in the war, and were very lukewarm about which side they were on. The debt of this war nearly tore down the English government. Although the English did win. This is so important because not only is it the first open conflict that had been building for a long time, but it's the final colonial war between France and Britain ending in the Peace Treaty in Paris.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    The Stamp Act Congress was all about "no taxation without representation". Although only nine of the thirteen colonies sent delegates to the congress, the originally oposing delegates began to take action agaist the Stamp Act in one congress. Boycots started in the colonies were very effective. This event is so important because not only did the colonies come together to put action against Britain, but the colonies found a way to unite against a greater force.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was the response to the Townshend Acts. The Townshend Acts were made to put heavy taxes on the colonies. British troops were placed in Massachusetts to enforce the Townshend Acts, creating a lot of tension between the colonist and British troops. The Boston Massacre is of such importance because not only did five colonist die from British regulars, but this was the first, of many, killings that occured between the British troops and the Colonist.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion against Britain. The colonist had many meetings deciding what to do in response to the overwhelming control Britain was attempting to gain. Leaders decided on a rebelious act of throwing the high taxed tea, that was imported from Britain, overboard, into the ocean. This was an important event because it shows the colonies taking action, as well as the colonies now being prepared to break away into independence, also fueling patrism in colonist.
  • American Revolution

    American Revolution
    The American Revolution was the Colonist against the British in a revolutionary war. The importance of this event is not only that America officially stood up for itself and fought against there mother nation, but we won as well. The colonist gaining victory in the American Revolution, especially by being so out numbered, shows Americas strength to the world. By this war America was able to stand against, and on there own as a unit, coming together for one cause, freedom.

    The declaration of Independence is exactly as it sounds, America's declaration of Independence from Britain. This is so important in our history because it shows America as a strong, independent country, with the ability to stand on its own.
