    The Battle of Chancellorsville
    This battle was fought in Virginia. The leader of the Union was General Joseph Hooker. The leaders for the Confederacy were General Lee & General Jackson. The Confederacy ended up winning this battle. This battle was important because the Union was stuck between the two Confederate forces and the Yankees withdrew. Also, one of the Confederate companies fired on Jackson's company by mistake and shot Jackson. Jackson ended up dying a week later, after he had his arm amputated.

    Battle at Fort Sumter took place in the Charleston Harbor in South Carolina. The Leaders for the Confederacy were Jefferson Davis and Governor Francis Pickens. The leaders for the Union were President Lincoln & Abner Doubleday. The Confederacy won this battle. This battle is important because it is what sparked the Civel War to start.

The Leaders for the Union were General Irvin McDowell. The Confederacy won this battle as well. This battle was important because it was the first battle and it changed the view of the war. The North was shocked by the defeat and realized the war could go on longer than they thought.

The Union won this battle. This battle was important because it was a strategic win toward Union control of Mississippi River. Confederates struck first without reinforcements. It was a bloody battle for 2 days. It ended with casualties: Union- 1300 & Confederacy- 11000.

    This battle was fought in Louisiana- Mississippi River. It was a Naval Battle. The leaders for the Union were Captain David Farragut. The Confederacy had no leaders for this battle. The outcome of this battle was that the Union won. This battle was important because it completed Union control of the Mississippi River. The South couldn't use the port or river to carry goods.

This battle was important because the Union was able to prevent Lee from moving the war into Northern land. It was also important because it caused the Emancipation Proclamation. Extra Info: McClellan had Lee's battle plans. This battle is the "Bloodiest Day in American History".

    This battle took place on July 1st through July 4th in Pennsylvania. The leader for the Union was General Meade. The Leaders for the Confederacy were General Lee & General George Pickett. The Union won this battle! It was an important battle because the Confederacy lost, so they decided to attack the Union at their center. The Confederacy ended up losing 75% of their men. This is now considered the bloodiest battle in the Civil War.

    This battle took place in Mississippi. The leader for the Union was General Ulysses S. Grant. The leaders for the Confedeacy was everyone! The Union ended up winning this battle. This was an important battle because it was a major turning point. The Confederacy split in half & lost control of the Mississippi River in the South. This siege lasted for 47 days on water and land. Grant and Union troops cut off all supplies to the South.

    This took place between Washington D.C. and Richmond. The leader for the Union was General Ulysses S. Grant. Neither Side won this. Both sides struggled with the conditions and had many causalties. This was important because this started the 6 bloodiest weeks of the war. Brushfires burned alive 200 wounded men.

    This battle took place in Mobile Bay, Alabama. The leader for the Union was DavidFarragut (Highest-ranking Union officer). The Union won this because they took the last Southern Union port. Their invasion worked! This was important because Farragut led an attack of 18 ships into Mobile Bay.

    This was taken place across Georgia to the Atlantic Coast. The leader for the Union was William Sherman. The Union won this. This was important because the Union wanted to break the morale of the Confederacy by destroying the Carolinas and anything useful to the South (food, railroad lines, fields, livestock)

    Fall of Richmond/ Surrender at Appomottox
    During the Fall of Richmond Davis heard that Lee retreated from Petersburg and the Union was moving to Richmond, he started destroying Richmond. Then after the Fall of Richmond, Lee and Davis retreated. Lee continued to fight and ended up surrendering to Grant. Grant and Lee then talked about ending the war. The Union won! The war was over on April 9th, 1865.
