    Tobacco was first introduced to Europeans when Columbus landed in the Americas. He wrote in his diary that he observed an Indian ship sailing in a canoe with water, food and tobacco leaves. Use of tobacco spread rapidly among the Spanish colonists and during the 16th century tobacco spread throughout Europe. One of the uses to tobacco was you cure many major illnesses. This shows change because countries are being introduced to a new plant that can cure illnesses.

    Pineapples were spread throughout South America and then it reached the Caribbean where it was discovered by Christopher Columbus, as he was exploring the New World on his second voyage in 1493. Pineapples were significant because it made money, they would bring the long and stiff stands and would start to plant it. This shows changed because pineapples were new to the New World. Later on, pineapples were introduced to Hawaii by Spain.

Syphilis is a continuity because skeletal evidence showed signs of syphilis in Europe and other parts of the Old World before.
