Camp Green Lake was a Juvenile Detention Centre where criminal boys were sent. They were to dig holes every day for eighteen, long months to 'build character'.

When Stanley arrived at Camp Green Lake he was assigned a 'Group'. Everyone in the 'Group' had a nickname and it was considered rude and disrespectful to call someone by their given name and not by their nickname.

Each day the boys had to dig holes. Each hole had to be five feet deep and five feet wide. After that you could have the rest of the day off.

Mr Sir always had a barlap sack of sunflower seeds with him. When Mr Sir was filling up the water canteens X-Ray took his barlap sack of sunflower seeds. Stanley took the blame for stealing the seeds.

The Group felt guilty becasue Stanley took the blame for something he did not do. In return Zero dug Stnaleys hole for him.

In return for Zero digging Stanley's hole, Stanley agreed to teach Zero how to read and write. stanley tought Zero by teaching him ten letters a day - five lowercase and five uppercase.

When the Warden found out that Zero was digging Stanley's holes she became really angry and asked Zero what he had learnt. Zero, being very shy, became intimidated and began to run.

Stanley, not wnating to face the Wardens punishments and her poisonous nails. So, crashing the water truck into a hole he ran into the desert.

When Stanley started running he came across a boat. When he seeks shelter from the scorching sun under the boat he finds none other than Zero.

After seeking refuge under the boat and finding Zero, Stanley finds out that Zero has been living on what he calls Sploosh. Zero found the 'Sploosh' preserved in jars and lying under the boat.

After running away, Zero and Stanley, decide to take refuge on the mountain top shaped like God's Thumb.

By now Stanley and Zero had worked out why the Warden wanted the boys to dig day in and day out. So stanley and Zero decided to go back to camp and try and find the treasure. They found the suitcase buried in the dirt and as soon as they pulled it our, who should they find, but the Warden.

Stanley and Zero discovered, a little to late, that there was a family of yellow spotted lizards living on the briefcase. If you get bitten by a yellow spotted lizard you will die. Always.

Stanley and Zero were picked up by a laywer because Zero had no files and Stanley was innocent. They became millionares after opening the treasure briefcase.
