  • all black battalian

    On July 5th 1916 WW1 an all black battalian was formed. although these men were part of the military they still did not fight for their country. this is an example of the right to equality being violated. this happend all through WW1.
  • Blacks accepted into service

    Blacks were finaly excepted into the service in WW2 (change from being treated without equality), Although black soldiers were put on their own base and had could not enter the bar for whites, but they were still in combat with the white soliders. This is an example of the blacks being treated with equality.
  • Ontario passes Racial Discrimation Act

    Ontario passed an act saying that it is illegal to discriminate against blacks this is an example of blacks being treated with fairness wich is the right to equality.
  • black women sits in white Theater's "White Section"

    A black women was arrested for sitting in an all white section in a movie theatre even though she was willing to pay for the more expensive ticket. She was treated un fairly and discriminated for her colour of skin that is a violation of the right to equality.
  • Fairclough Dismantles Discrimination Policy

    Durring her term as Minister of CItizenship she helped to eliminate Discrimination of blacks. this is a time when blacks started being treated diferently and being treated with most rights.
  • first black elected to canadian parlement

    Leonard Braithwaite became the first African-Canadian in provincial legislature when he was elected to as the liberal member for Etobicoke, Ontario in 1963, this is a big event in history for African-Canadians, they were being treated with respect because of Leonard being in parliment. The right of equality was now enforced more.
  • Klan activity in Amherstburg

    The Black Baptist Church was defaced and the Amherstburg sign was spray painted "Amherstburg the home of the KKK" five days of racial threats escalated untill saved by the Ontario Human Rights Commision. This was a majior event in black history showing discrimination and acording to the Racial Discrimination Act is illegal and is against the right to equality.
